Fucking seriously. What clunkers are you people driving that you'd just loan them out to any asshole friend with an iron foot? The only people who are ever driving my Camaro without me in it are my parents, older brother, or god-brother, and every single one of them would man up and pay whatever fine they incurred, should they get caught testing the 176mph top speed.

Edit: Notice no GF or Wife on there? Any GF would be right out, as long as I wasn't in the vehicle (outside of an emergency, like her taking the car to visit me in the hospital while my guts are hanging out; speeding is perfectly fine in that case), and I'm not married, so I don't have to worry about that bridge until I cross it. Chances are she'll want some mini van for the kids or whatever, so that's her ride.

And straight up, I can't afford to pay for any fucktardation anyone might get into if they were driving my vehicle. I don't speed, because I can't afford a speeding ticket. I wear my seat belt, because I can't afford to get a ticket for not wearing it. Etc. I wouldn't take the chance of someone, friend or not, fucking me over.

Guys we should stop prosecuting people for murder, 'cause there are some that try to pin the evidence on other people. And since that happens...well, why prosecute anyone?

But I don't think that; regardless of how rare the abuse is that it is asinine. It exists, and there isn't a way to defend against it. I don't want the government to have the ability to levee fines without being able to prove that the person who is being fined is at fault.

I stated this in my original reply to you, and my point is still the same. A speed camera is a tool which does not do the same job as a law enforcement officer. I don't like the idea that if my brother takes my car while I'm asleep, I'm responsible for his actions until I prove it was him driving the car and not me.

You have a chance to defend yourself from these tickets too. The opening statement is meant for the people with bullshit excuses. "I wasn't speeding", "I was slowing down" "I wasn't going THAT fast", etc. If you have a certifiable defense you can get off. You keep spouting the same bullshit about the 1%, I don't care about the 1%. If this thing works 90% of the time, great, the other 5% can deal with a little bullshit in their lives and if some faggot kids are abusing the system then cops can do a stakeout and arrest the shitheads. It's pretty easy to spot a car with a piece of paper on the plate as he blows through a camera. If your brother takes your car while you are asleep, without permission, he's a fucking dickhead and you should beat his ass or call it in stolen and not press charges(oh shit, my bro had the car? my bad officers). Mine knows never to touch mine because I think he is a shit driver.

In order to add photos of the drivers they would need a 4th device installed, 20-30ft down the road and even if they had photos that would do nothing unless they added face recognition software and had access to the license database. Which by the way, isn't 100% accurate. Oh shit, guess we can't use it now because it could be wrong every so often. Once they can accurately tell who the driver is, why don't they start adding points against licenses though, since they can now "accurately" prove who was driving. Oh wait, that person isn't registered as an available driver on the insurance, BAM more points/fines.

Your ideas would all actually cause more problems then we already have just to satisfy the 1%. That's not better for everyone and I don't care about the minority, even if that's me every so often. Our society is so "WHAT ABOUT ME" "WHAT ABOUT THIS ONE TIME".

hell my car was only $15k and I still wouldn't loan it out. I actually am not sure on this, but say someone takes your car and gets into an accident, if they aren't a listed driver can't that be an issue? In the case where my husband (at the time bf) backed up into another car, when I called my insurance they were like "he's not a listed driver, he has to be listed" and so I added him as a driver. In that instance it was only small bumper/side dent issue, but in something more severe, would the insurance not cover as much (or raise your rate higher) because you let a non-listed driver drive your car?

Even if not, you still have to deal with the hassle of being without a car, renting a car (and might have to pay for that), trying to get a new car if the other one was totaled or wait for the current one to get fixed, etc. etc. I can't imagine WHY anyone would be letting their friends use the car.

If they get a speeding ticket and they don't pay, consider it lesson learned about lending out your car in the first place.

Yes, you do, you just can't use fucking retreaded excuses. Are you from MD? Do have experience with these tickets? I took my first few to court and saw people get off, just not me because my excuses were bullshit and I wanted to see how these worked. It clearly states if someone else was driving you can bring them to court but it's easier to just have them pay it since the only penalty is a fine. Again, if they won't admit it/pay it, you have worse problems because you are lending your car out to assholes.

In the few cases, someone found one, over a year old, of people abusing the system and breaking the law in more then just speeding, if people bring the attention of these acts to the court, the police will do an investigation, just like any other crime where people are framed or defrauded.
