oh no $40 i've been punked where's the camera?
Shit, I'd rather have a ticket sent to me in the mail than have a cop pull me over for speeding, especially with the way I speed. I just don't speed in residential areas or school areas. Its amazing how many people roll down a school street popping 47 in a 30 and then start bitching when they get a ticket in the mail. You really want there to be a cop there to pull you over so he can show you just how pissed off he is at how stupid you are for plowing through a school zone?
Seriously? This whole "I gotta make sure that they're sure that its actually me in my own goddamn car!" schpeal is worth taking to that extreme? Ay-eye-eye...
lol, tards
like I already posted, this was deemed to be illegal in Arizona. I actually liked the cameras because I could go 170mph+ on the freeway at night and toss the tickets every time they came in the mail
They can't prove you were driving, you are not responsible for what your car does if someone else drives it. The cameras are gone now and now I have to abide by the speed limit again.
If you really want these cameras to go away, stop fucking speeding. If revenues drop far enough, I'm sure they will decide it is not worth the cost. Of course, this will never happen, because people feel that driving is a right, not a privilege, and that speed limits are wrong. They will argue five ways to Sunday why they shouldn't have to accept the consequences of breaking the law.
Reminds me of a few years back a little back and forth I had with people in the letters section of the newspapers. They were bitching about how much of an inconvenience it was to have their license taken for speeding (can't buy cigarettes, can't buy alchohol) so they shouldn't have to lose it. Simple answer was to not speed (or get a state ID), but they didn't see it that way. Breaking the law made their life a little bit harder, so the law should be changed. It was the mentality of the argument that just pissed me off. "I got caught breaking the law, waaahhh, we need to change that"
And Arch, do you also feel that bartenders should not be responsible if they let a drunk guy get in the car? They are making a judgement about the driver, just like you should be when you loan your car out to somebody.
Quick google search (and not from the US) but this seems to be a well worded response that doesn't seem to be clicking with some posters. http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Motor...ion461311.html
The slight error (and I'm being petty here) is that you're not the registered owner, but the registered keeper.
It's generally accepted that the person who is the registered keeper is not necessarily the owner, but the person who uses the vehicle the most - hence the reason all the fines, etc come to you - if you were not in charge, then realistically you should know who was using the vehicle at the time and you have a duty to infirm the relevant authorities of this.
You would not be held responsible if your vehicle was stolen and used in a criminal activity. Yes, the police may come to you first as you were obviously the registered keeper, but so long as there was evidence to suggest that the car was stolen, no further action would be taken.
As to how did we let the law get like this, how the hell do you expect people to be responsible for their actions if you can't trace the responsibility of ownership?
If no-one registered the cars in their names, then you'd never trace people who hit-and-run pedestrians, who flee accidents, paedo's who kidnap (or attempt) to kidnap kids and someone see's their reg, etc.
If you don;t know who's using your car, maybe you shouldn;t be allowed to drive.
cool, the title of the thread says MD hard to believe different states have different state laws I know but no one was talking about or giving a fuck about AZ, bro. I've already said i would gladly sign something to get rid of the cameras (if I lived in MD) simply because I don't like tickets but that doesn't change the fact that they are legal in MD for the time being and no matter what laws exist in AZ they don't directly affect our understanding of how they work in MD.
You clearly missed the part where the speed limits ARE wrong, http://www.stopbigbrothermd.org/2008...-to-begin.html .
He's clearly saying that the opposition is opposing out of emotion, not reason. The issue of whether the speed limits are set properly is independent of whether we should have cameras or officers. Having officers wouldn't have suddenly changed the speed limit from 30mph to 40mph on the highway example the website gives. In short, you're bring up an irrelevant point.
While there is a bit of useful information on that site the amount of spin and bias has rendered it into a santorum milkshake.
I probably set these off in school zones all the time, seeing as my average riding speed is about 20mph and I'm able to pump it up to 30+ if I really try, lol and the red light ones, I definitely set off(as I've seen them flash). If I see the street is free to cross w/ no cars approaching or far enough to where I can safely pass, I just go
Good thing I don't have a license plate on my bike
That's because the evidence is different, ffs. It's not the same situation. Once again, how about you or anybody else actually addresses parking tickets. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4521.09
That's Ohio's laws regarding the joint liability of parking tickets. (Because, letting someone use your car means your jointly liable for the shit they do with it.) You'll see that the only way you get out of paying for it is if you've leased it to them or it's a business vehicle, or they're using it without your permission and thus they stole it. I'm willing to bet it's not much different with MD.
I laughed at this. The accuser is the state, the witness is the machine. It is not illegal to engage in sweeping surveillance systems on roads they own. The mobile shit is true. They're whining that they got in trouble because the person they let drive their car is an asshole. Of course it's almost like they're "guilty until proven innocent" because they have evidence against them. etc. It's basically a bunch of people whining because they don't know the law.
It's very impractical to determine on a per-ticket basis whether the registered owner is the person committing a parking violation.
It's very practical on a per-ticket basis to determine whether the person speeding past a camera trap is the registered owner, if they simply used the same established methods employed by red light cameras.

This site is filled with bullshit lol. I haven't seen any speeds changed due to the addition of cameras in my area and just about every road I can think of follows the current "logic" behind speed limits. I'm pretty sure the speed change in Gaithersburg was actually by a school, but I could be wrong since 355 is huge and it doesn't really say where. I do feel limits should be increased due to better technology but I haven't seen them lowered to rake in more money.
The matter about when the tickets are received is retarded because the ticket tells you exactly when and where you received it, if you can't remember why you where on that road on that day you are an idiot.
Those speed indicator/radar signs are bullshit, I don't see anyone slow down because of those. Complete bullshit.
Speed Bumps are worse for your car. They actually damage your car if you have a low car, and increase stress on your struts and shocks. I would kill someone if they removed cameras and added more fucking bumps. They also cause some of us to go about 10mph over them, which is reducing speed waaaay too much.
Also the reasoning behind people driving like complete idiots past cameras and increasing traffic congestion is the driver's fault. If people weren't fucking idiots they could learn you don't have to go 20mph in a 30mph zone past the camera. Learn how they work and stop driving like an idiot. I barely slow down, if at all, for most cameras unless retards are in front of me. You have a 10mph leeway, learn how to fucking drive.
The main point of difference is that most people against don't think they should get a ticket if their mom/dad/bro/sis/friend/grandma are driving their car and speeding, and some of us think it's not a problem because they shouldn't be a dickhead and speed in your car. Face Cameras doesn't actually solve this problem, it just lets all those people who were breaking the law in another person's car get away with it and there is no affordable or "practical" way to identify and charge those people who are not the owners.
Yea, it lets everyone's mom, son, brother, friend speed with no penalty. I don't get why you think it's such a horrible thing that mom gets a ticket because her kid was speeding. I don't find that to be an acceptable argument for removing the cameras or spending millions in tax payers dollars to add face cameras just to let those people off. You are saying the only people who need to drive responsibly around speed cameras are the actual car owners, anyone else can drive however the fuck they want, which is far worse.
You have listed no practical way of punishing those individuals that are not the owners.
edit: In your system, because my mom owns my brothers car, he can now drive 100mph in camera zones and not worry. Brilliant idea.
May as well bitch about parking tickets, too. They can't prove it was you who parked there!
