I'm tempted to ban archi for an hour strictly on the principle that he actually is trying to use Arizona laws as a defense. That is one of the like first states we should blow up. I wouldn't recommend using them as support in any argument.

It's called court. You go there to handle many different types of situations. It's been mentioned a few times in this thread.

Oh, also the precaution of "not lending your car to idiots". It's pretty reasonable.

So...the state isn't taking any precautions to prevent non-drivers from being handed tickets for things they didn't do. At least we agree on that.

It's a PREcaution from paying the ticket. Innocent people are accused of crimes all the time in every other aspect of the court system also, but they go to court as a PREcaution to PREvent them from going to jail.

The system with the cameras and the courts isn't based on the presumption of innocence, and due process is thrown out the window.

Yeah, it looks like it's up to independent municipalities and their county courts. State law allows up to 1 point on a license for a red light camera ticket where the driver's face has been photographed and positively identified.

yes.. no shit it's up to county courts. it's the exact same as running a red light and being pulled over what's your explanation for completely talking out your ass about California laws? if you're not trolling then you're just stupid.

Even if legislature wasn't put on a ballot to ban them you could always research who supported the original legislation to allow the cameras and vote them out of office.

Well, aside from the fact that one judges attempt at saving time in a court room by not allowing "I wasn't going that fast" defenses (guess what...that doesn't work vs a police issued ticket either) does not miraculously make an entire system of speed control unconstitutional...

How is it presuming you guilty? You have the opportunity to present a defense, and even a face camera (and you still haven't answered my question...this is the FOURTH time I'm going to ask...did you recently abandon that support?) isn't going to allow you to go in and tinker with the camera system to make sure it's calibrated properly when there's someone there testifying that it is calibrated properly.

Generating revenue should never be the purpose, or even a motivating factor, towards fining people or charging them with crimes.

With the amount of budget cuts to public safety going on nation wide, every agency from state highway patrol's to city police and everything in between are looking for ways to increase revenue so they don't have to cut back further then they already are. Do you honestly believe the reason the costs of tickets have gone up several hundred percent in the last few years is to deter crime?

Like I said, a similar infraction here will run you a 150$ ticket, cameras or not...makes a 40$ ticket laughable. On the highway towards toronto, if you're caught speeding they not only ticket you but apparently impound your car on the spot, which once again, 40$ ticket is laughable.
