Think of all the poor people getting parking tickets in the mail when in fact their son/mother/father/daughter/brother/uncle/nephew/aunt/niece/sister/grandfathers and mothers/grandchildren and omg friends were the ones who were borrowing the cars!! this is turning into an epidemic please someone help us this State and Country will fail!

I don't consider a parking ticket issued to the vehicle owner to be given to the wrong person.

I do consider a speeding ticket given to the person who wasn't speeding to be issued to the wrong person.

Normal, reasonable people identify the driver to the judge or have their friends/family pay up.

I doubt you've even read 1 post from this thread so I'll save you some embarrassment from looking borderline retarded: These speeding tickets do not go on your record, they do not add points to your record, they do not get passed along to DMV, your insurance company does not have access to the records oh and lastly these ticket amounts are for far less than the normal amount of a speeding violation that would be issued from a police officer we are talking in the $40-$75 range.

And since most people don't keep minute by minute records of where they've been at any given time throughout the day, the best way to prove you weren't driving is by showing that someone else was.

Much more likely you can gather evidence that you were somewhere else than that someone else was there. Defendants shouldn't have to play fucking Matlock to get out tickets they didn't deserve.

Well think of it this way - the government is giving a ticket to the owner of the car because the car was unlawfully going over the speed limit and the owner is responsible for the car

You bring them to court, or tell the judge their name/address. God dammit, stop being so difficult. This isn't a murder trial, it's a cheap civil fine, and the situations you're proposing don't happen.

I'm starting to think you're going to be the type of person demanding a jury trial for a jaywalking ticket because you think you're being denied your constitutional rights by going in front of a judge.
