Maryland Speed cameras

yeah i've paid my fair share of speeding tickets and have attended traffic school multiple times.. the amount in which I speed vs the times I have been caught is pretty low. If we were to add millions of cameras state wide that ratio would drastically change, so much so that I would adjust how I drive. I would not adjust how I drive outside specific areas if I got a $40 ticket but guess what none of this has anything to do with your original point that the fines being issued are unjust because they're being issued to the wrong person you've essentially lost that battle and are trying to deflect by changing the subject and it's not going to work

Um, the fines are unjust if they are handed out to the wrong person. Nothing's changed, my argument is consistent. You just don't want face cameras because you are cheap and like to speed, apparently.

my dad, the homeowner, got a fine because I dumped some things illegally in the trashbins. He got the ticket because he is the homeowner.

not sure, doubtful it would happen given the extra costs in adding the cameras and court costs: If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas

Because they aren't the same. There is no feasible way to determine who it was. Not so with speeding tickets.

Because they aren't the same. There is no feasible way to determine who it was. Not so with speeding tickets.

you could prove that you were not the person who parked the car in some cases very similar to how you could prove you were not the one speeding with the cameras (i.e. hiking in fucking China) but we've all agreed that neither would be acceptable defenses to most courts

I don't think archi would even have a problem with the cameras now if it wasn't for the story of the judge pretty much saying "Too bad, so sad" when people showed up to court to contest the ticket. It seems every one else conveniently forgets this when defending the cameras. Is every judge going to be ridiculous as that one? No, but the fact that it could happen is in itself pretty ridiculous.

If I was a judge and the defendant just said "It wasn't me", I'd want to know who it was then. If the response is anything like what Archi suggests of "It's not my job to tell you that, that is what the cops should be doing" you better believe I'd go through with the ticket. (And I'd tell him to stop being a dumbass about loaning out his car and/or start locking it so random guys stop jacking it just to get him caught on camera)
