I think you are underestimating GMs. If any of them are in love with Flynn right now(remember he had that big game against NE last year too), they will be willing to give up a 1st.

Monday morning, we learned that the Jacksonville Jaguars had requested permission from the Atlanta Falcons to interview offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey for their head coaching opening. They're not stopping there, however.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will interview for the job as well.

I agree that the Finley situation complicates things. Does each team only have 1 franchise tag? Also, does the "transitional tag" still exist and what is that for?

I don't think so, noT with so few starts coming from a QB friendly offense. As I said, I think Kolb kind of ruined that. Even if they were, is losing Finley worth giving up a first rounder? I wouldn't make that move.

Bleh, I was thinking we could franchise-and-trade Flynn and transition tag Finley, but apparently with the new CBA you can use one or another in a season, not both.

He's a free agent after this year. There's no way we could afford to pay him on tge open market as a backup, and if we franchise and keep him we'll owe him like 18M for a single season. His value-to-cost ratio will never be higher.
