If they don't come to terms, the Saints say they will tag Brees. Brees apparently does not want to sign a tag last it was mentioned in December. Hence, contract drama. I think he'd cave and sign anyway, but I still expect to see some shit said once the offseason hits.

In a press conference to jump start offseason speculation, New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will not be fired, although he is scheduled to interview for the Jacksonville head coaching job. Then Tannenbaum ceded the microphone to head coach Rex Ryan, who gave a sales pitch for his coordinator that made him seem like a deal too good to pass up.

"He's got everything it takes to be a successful head coach in this league," Ryan said. "I think it starts with the pedigree, but more importantly here's a guy who's been successful, he know how to develop players and we've gone to two back-to-back AFC Championship Games. A lot of that is due to his work ethic, which I think is tremendous."

Yea, Ravens were terrible in 2000/01 and Trent Dilfer ran a beast offense.

Pats won their Super Bowls because they had a very good defense AND Tom Brady.

8 of the last 11 Super Bowls were teams with good defenses, the other 3 had defenses that were playing beast and causing TOs/sacks.

If offense won championships the Pats would have beat the Giants, The Cards would have beat the Steelers, the Raiders would have beat the Bucs and the Rams would have beat the Pats. Of course, 18-1 is enough to prove it since without a beast pass rush there is no way Eli Manning beats Tom Brady and the best offense ever.
