None of the arrangements capture that feel from the background track... that is part of the reason the original is the best. (since imo that is a big part of what makes it so damn good)

Aye, I rather like it, 2nd fav easily! My favorite is by a female... and hell, it is from one of the few games I've never played.
I feel that Tales of the Tempest has the very best opening theme, I can listen to that all day.

Pretty much all of the Tales openings are excellent with a few exceptions (I personally didn't like Destiny or Eternia's opening.) There's too many good songs in Tales games to isolate my favorites but I'll be damned if these aren't on the top:
