In Sweden you could sue an employer for putting that kind of stuff in an application form. It's crazily racist to me.

It's actually a separate form that goes to HR (doesn't go to the interviewers or anything) for statistics purposes. It's not used for anything except to brag about the diverse employees to the government because they get extra funding if they meet diversity goals. Every university I've applied for jobs at has had this separate form. There's a question about sexual orientation and one about disabilities too.

There was one of those on the sommelier exams I took, even stated for British residents only. I found it really odd.
