I actually like novel-esque journalism. Makes them seem like they care a lot more about their job and portraying an interesting article. Thanks, Qalbert. However, fuck the way you think about articles; the important part is holy shit multiplayer in my God of War. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the single player, regardless of the multiplayer. At worst, I'll play multiplayer a few times and then never again. I still want them to take my money with the force of a thousand suns, because I'd like to find out a bit more about Kratos before he became the God-killing badass that we know today.

With the advent of the Instant Game Collection this year, Sony has made the PlayStation Plus subscription completely worth the price of admission. But in the last few weeks, they’ve added to the subscription’s value by allowing users exclusive access to beta trials of upcoming games like LittleBigPlanet for the Vita and PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale.

Well, that list just got a little longer: the PlayStation Blog today announced that their forthcoming, triple-A title, God of War: Ascension, will have an exclusive multiplayer beta trial for PS Plus subscribers. And while those other games were pretty nice to have early access to, this is balls-to-the-wall awesome. None of those other games have been as highly anticipated as this’un.

Here’s what the game’s director, Todd Papy, had to say on the news:

…the multiplayer action has come a long way since [PAX] and this winter, Plus subscribers get to go hands-on with all-new multiplayer action that we haven’t yet shown. If you’ve been following the Ascension news thus far, you know that in God of War Multiplayer, each warrior will align themselves with one of four Gods. Each God will grant a different set of unlockable powers, armor sets, and abilities, which leads to a unique style of play for each God ‘class.

God of War: Ascension sees the debut of multiplayer to God of War for the very first time. So expect all the brutal combat and frenetic action of the God of War series in up to eight-player online battles.
