On a completely off-topic note at this point, but did anyone else think of Ender from Ender's Game when they read about this? This kid basically fits the role perfectly minus being a genius, as when he was finally forced to fight, he injured his enemy so badly that they would never attack him again.

Obviously you didn't read the thread because you would realize FL has a law that says you can use lethal force in self-defense if you fear for your life OR serious bodily harm. I love idiots who think someone should "take their beating" though, complete retard comment. It's been posted a few times where kids were left in comas or near death or crippled from schoolyard fights and there has been plenty of fights by kids that ended in death. The main reason bullies don't stop when adults try to have a sit down is because bullies don't get it, don't care and thinks "it's just fun". That was his freshmen year and I kind of doubt a growing teen lost 5-10lbs by the time he was a senior. He might of however lost 5-10lbs in blood after the fight, so I guess you could be accurate.

Normally lethal force can be applied only when you are threatened for your life. However the Stand Your Ground clause in FL adds that lethal force can be applied if faced with serious bodily harm. Judge ruled in favor viewing the kid both attempted with clear purpose to evade confrontation and that he faced great bodily harm when cornered and only applied lethal force after he was struck first.

Could this have been dealt with in a way that prevented the loss of life? Maybe.

Last I checked a fight requires two (or more) willing combatants.

And who the hell wants to subject themselves to bodily harm? I've never heard of a 14 year old with no history of fighting that can physically dominate a 17 year old with martial arts training, have you? But regardless, you seem to think its ok to let people beat the shit out of you as long as they dont kill you? I'd be pretty fucking fearful of my life if someone significantly larger than me clearly has intent to fuck me up (and the height/size difference between 14 and 17 can be pretty staggering on average).

I guess rape victims should suck it up because statistically theres no reason for their life to be threatened ("One percent or less of all rapes end in murder.")
