Holy fuck. So your soldiers cannot fight when they're doing psi-training... just FYI. I learned that on a fucking TERROR mission. Lost a Shiv and an Alloy Shiv and 2 soldiers...

damn, burning knife was an awful mission for you
Terror Mission with lower ranked people and 2 Shivs. Lost 2 Shivs and 2 Soldiers. I got through with 2 HP on my Support and 1 HP on my Assault. A heavy floater flanked my Assault with 1 HP and missed. Oh, one of those Colonels was actually a heavy.I miss shreder and 2x rockets.
It's almost impossible to lose anyone with the entire team at highest rank and plasma weapons, and skeleton/carapace/Titan armor. Researching Ghost/Archangel armor now.
I've been running with 2 assault, 2 Sniper, 1 Heavy and 1 Support, and never lost a single person on any mission. Assault are damn near unstoppable tanks, I ran him forward in to 3 of those flying things, 2 drones, 3 insects, 3 of those armored fatties and 1 flying UFO. He didn't get killed. he 1-shotted each of the insects with his reaction shots, dodged fatties shots, killed 1 of the flying things on a reaction. 2 flying things got killed by sniper reactions, 1 drone by the heavy reaction, and 1 fatty got killed by support shot-reaction. Then ran in and healed him with support.
I love assaults. And snipers.
Gone against Muton Elites, Sectoid commanders, and Sectopods in one go :D?
No, haven't met Muton Elites yet. Last mission had 2 Sectoid commanders, 3 flyers and 3 Mutons though.
Imma go impossible next time around, I noticed that its probably worth it to skip weapons and get extra satellites early on, will help a lot later with finances... It sucks not even having enough to build a single Satelite Nexus from 1 month of income.
How does Shivs hold up versus soldiers? I haven't tried them yet, mainly because I can't afford them... I spend all of my money on research/new equipment.
My 2 other shivs got raped on a Terror mission. We'll see how my hover shiv does on a transport mission.
there was an update today that had something about shivs. don't remember what exactly though
god fucking damnit i've captured like 2-3 aliens so far and plamsa tech still won't pop up for research. what else do i need to find?
Just started playing 2 days ago due to a friends recommendation(i never much cared for the old xcom)
I also love assaults and snipers lol they are just so awesome
I didn't lose anybody until i did the first alien base assault and lost my best assault(he did take out like 6 guys before finally getting zombied to a zergling pack)
this game rocks
meh, figured it out. my last playthrough i had skipped weapon fragments thinking it was only for laser guns/scope. lost my entire team of best soldiers cause i ran into 3 muton packs and a disk attacking me two at a time, so i just researched a bunch of random shit to see where it all went. back to the drawing board![]()
Upgrading weapons generally unlocks better weapons. Generally, autopsy allows for weapon unlocks I believe. Interrogation allows for improved research speed. You do need some additional research though, you need stuff like battery research etc. to allow for the "batteries" required to power laser weapons, and "alloys" to withstand the heat and pressure from plasma weapons.
Iron man sure makes this tough.
Just for fun on a rescue mission.

i am really paying for not upgrading ships and sending out satellites early onfor some reason i decided building like 4 power things was more important. WHAT A FOOL I HAVE BEEN.
Started a new game this evening (wanted to change some things up a bit). Hit a rough patch on the first terror mission but pulled through OK. Gearing up for the Alien Base.
Managed to down an Abductor no problem. Flushed out a group of Floaters and Outsiders when suddenly a pack of 3 Chryssalids. Two heavies mopped that up quick.
On second thought, I'd rather do another fucking terror mission than an Abductor or Base. Mostly because Chryssalids come in packs of 2, not 3.
Can someone explain squadsight for me? My sniper, so long as they have a direct line of fire, can fire at anything I can see?
I'm in front of the last mission(I think? says I wont be able to research/do anything if I continue) and in the process of building a sexy team of all psionic soldiers. Gonna roll with 2 support, 2 heavy, assault, sniper
Yes, pretty much exactly how it works. No idea why anyone would want Snapshot when Squad Sight is so much better.
