I named most of my soldiers after people on my facebook list, and when they died I'd post a screen shot and tag them. Had a lot of confused friends but quite a few got a kick out of it. A lot of them were at least embracing their kill counts when I tagged them on the Memorial Wall.
i'm trying to do impossible ironman right now, and jfc it's insanity. getting past the first mission takes some time, but if you get a bad map on the second you might as well start over. all your soldiers start with 1 less HP and sectoids with 1 more. oh and there's something like twice as many each map. UGH
thinking of trying these different mods out

thoughts on each?
I never really followed this game up to release but it looks interesting and unique, but I'm not exactly sure what kind of game it is. lol
Somebody wanna explain it to me? RTS? TPS?
TBS - Turn Based Strategy with a Base/Geoscape strategy layer on top of it.
Kis, I want to see if they're going to release a patch that will enable the 2nd run stuff.
you mean an official firaxis patch?
Yeah. They've done a small patch but still waiting to see what else they patch.
My uber crew. I've only had 2 people die this run through lol.

I did the same thing! 1 sniper, 1 assault, 2 of the rest
I'm pretty happy with it. I think support's are basically the best and every other guy fills a niche roll. Assault assassin, sniper for archangel infini-kill, heavies for sectopods and 4 rockets seem like the perfect amount for maps.
I wanted to get a team full of psi and I think I fucked up... took the shield thing for 3rd tier on my two ~90 will guys and then realized how enormous the field is (sometimes it includes enemies.. so you're giving 40 defense to everything you can see, basically) and decided mind control would be good but the remainding psi guys only had ~60-70 willwish I can switch them lol
Both my heavies have Heat ammo and 2x Rockets and Shredder rockets. Robots are entertaining because of how much damage they do to them. I haven't hit sectopods yet but it will be entertaining. I'm WAY short on resources this game though because I used all my stuff for early satellite coverage(Almost full map covered). But I don't have enough weapon fragments to do the firestorm research yet ;/
god DAMNIT i'm so FUCKING pissed
i'm doing an impossible/ironman runthrough and i had a solid start for the first 3 missions which are the most important. got my sniper squad sight (huge deal early on) but got screwed by rolling the graveyard bomb defusal mission, losing 2 of my ranked soldiers. pulled out at least with my two best, then rolled the daytime construction site and got screwed there too with 3 spawns attacking my chokepoint right away. i might have been able to swing it except apparently point blank and flanked shotgun blasts to the face is only worth 3 dmg.
lost my assault, lost my sniper. back to square one.
How the hell did you getba satellite over every country do fast
classic is a bitch. full cover or bust. and only way to kill shit is if you're flanking.. but don't run into that other group of aliens while doing so. AH FUCK.
Yea, you really need to use overwatch a lot, and only move 3-4 tiles at a time.
Just started a Classic/Ironman, 4 missions in and no deaths. Shit's cake, yo(lol)!
seriously after playing ironman/impossible i think i could beat classic/ironman in my sleep
trying to find solid ground to start on with i/i is like groundhog day. if you roll a bad second map where you don't know the spawns you're screwed. if you roll a bomb map you're screwed, unless you ignore it which means you're 3/4 screwed.
