This may be a dumb question but I am still very early in the game. How do I get another sniper?
I figured. All my bros keep turning in to assault or heavy![]()
Snipers area pain in the ass to level. But once they get up there man o man. My sniper shot so many times in one turn I had to reload Dx. Frigin like 5 thin men dropped in on an escort and they were all demolished. 100% hit rate ftw.
Yea I love my one sniper. She has been my leading killer since I started, really would like to give her another bro to bro out with.
So I did tut my first game, but fucked up naturally. If I start a new game with out the tutorial, do I miss out on plot? I loaded it up to see and it kinda just dropped me in. The tut is slow as fuck to start though, so id like to skip it as long as I don't miss out on the story.
The tutorial is nice for a once-through so you can get a feel for the different systems. Once you feel confident, start a new game without the tutorial. The tutorial handcuffs you a wee bit too much.
I'm up to the base raid mission. Been working on my vet squad slowly. Finally have settled on who I want to take in. Armor is a bit lacking but I have a full outfit of Laser weaponry with Plasma being researched.
Only thing is I know the place is going to be Chryssalid city.
On my Run there were 4 Droids 2 Cyberdisks 9 Crysalids(One group that I activated ran 3 in a line to near point blank range to my troops, was awesome lol. 6 Mutons and a Commander. Something like that.
is there some multishot perk once you get to colonel or something?
and yeah i've found snipers are pretty hard to level, at least until you get squad sight. with that thing on the range is absolutely absurd.
also, tyven, i've found heavy units to be pretty good. the extra firing round and the multiple rockets are invaluable. personally i've found less use for assault units. but i haven't been able to get an assault unit to live long enough to make full use of the perk where they can evade initial reaction shots, which would make them awesome for flanking. if i could get one beefed up enough i'm sure it'd serve as a sick shock troop unit.
btw anyone know where to find a tech tree or at least how to tech to plasma weaponry?
@ Colonel I have a perk that allows me to not use a turn if I kill a unit out of cover. Which is A LOT of stuff towards the end. My Assaults are absolute beasts. You basically have to send them in last with run and gun and be careful not to activate stuff. I used my lower ranked one to pull in the Alien base. I have 2 main heavies One with Holo-targeting, Shredder rocket + 2 rockets. The other has Bullet Swarm(Actually lets you shoot twice or overwatch twice), shredder. 2 Assults, one full offensive and one with lightning reflexes and some DEF and some Off stuff. Then I have my Support and Sniper. My sniper has Squad sight, Opportunist, Damn good Ground, Disabling shot, and In the zone.
I think once you capture aliens you keep their weps(they don't blow up). Then you can research them.

I'll take screen shots of my main force when I get home.
From what I've seen thus far:
Spoiler: show
I love my assault guys because being able to fire after a dash has been A ROCKIN GOOD TIME
The RTS gameplay is fun.
But damn, man, Presentation = 4/10.
Tutorials are clunky, and presented so shoddily. Half of the time you don't need a tutorial, you will get a lengthy boring cut scene that tries to explain to you what you should do. Half of the time you need an explanation, the game does NOTHING to help you out.
Also, the build/research options need to be organized better and be displayed completely differently. Example: They give you a list of 6 different options, and the only way I know what each is if I highlight each and read a paragraph that explains it to me.
They should do what they do in Civ games, let you know whether the building/research offers defensive, offensive or support capabilities. Also, giving the build/research options really long somewhat archaic names doesn't help me make my decision any easier. I have to go back and highlight everything over again.
I feel this drags down the game a lot.
FUCK. I just lost China because I fucking misclicked scan instead of the terror mission. Went from 1 to gone instantly... FUCK.
Bah, I had all countries until month 3, but I couldn't find fucking engineers, so I lost them at the start of month 4 since I couldn't do the assault alien base mission...
Also; this is one of the most fun games I've played in a while. They need more research though, I've researched most everything, and I've interrogated everything, so capturing more enemies is pointless. Such a shame you can't capture chrysalis or those UFO-looking things.
God, I would be in so much of a better place had I not fucked up and pressed scan -_-; I'm doing really well but 1 more nation books it and I'm done.
Europe can finally play.
Team dbag is ready to take on classic ironman.
