Meh. Placebo ashes never hurt anyone, as long as they don't find out!

If I had to have some ashes, I'd want one of these...

Too bad I think they are only concepts at the moment.

No offense intended but I've never understood wanting to have someone that passed away kept in my house. If I were going to spend the money on cremation I'd find it more meaningful to release the ashes. Letting go is something that's healthy to do when love ones pass away and for a pet especially releasing their ashes at their favorite beach or trail to me would be cathartic. You'd always have the memories and pictures to remember them by. Anyways I wish you the best in dealing with your loss and GL in your search. Again not trying to say your idea is bad just thought I'd put my 2 cents in like every other person that has too much time and the internet.

We put Abby down today at around 5PM. Took her for one last walk in her cart, then headed to the pet store downtown to buy her last toy/snacks.

After that we went to the vet, the procedure was about as perfect as it could get. Unlike previous vet visits, she didn't have any anxiety or stress. Its almost as if she knew herself it was time.

Never could have a better dog than that. Also our vet/tech staff is probably the best group of individuals I've ever met. They've struggled as we have to give her the best comfort of life as she could attain as a handicap dog.

Next week we'll be ordering her final urn, we've looked around and found 1-2 (thanks for some of the links posted in the thread) in the $150.00 range that are handmade.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    look at that faaaaace

so, so sorry for your loss, it sounds like you both had an amazing effect on one another's lives. I think it's clear how loved she was given the extent you went to in caring for her; she was just as lucky to have you as you were to have her.

Its such a void in the house now. Its so quiet without her (We used to leave the TV on 24/7 Animal Planet since she slept in front of it).

The only cat Abby would let her sleep with, or come near her toys.

Coincidentally she's the only cat that seen Abby before she left today.

    Shit chokes me up.

I'm so sorry, she seemed like such a wonderful dog. I let my dog go after his bladder stopped working, he had other problems as well and the vet said his bladder wasn't likely to recover. I just really didn't want him to suffer. It's been three years and I still miss him to the point this thread actually made me cry. One of the hardest things was coming home from the vet and finding the cat lying on the dog's spot, waiting.

Dogs are ticking timebombs of sadness.

We sprinkled our dog's ashes last week. On his favorite spot at the summer cottage, where he used to look to the lake and keep watch.

You should be grateful that you were there at the very end. I'll always regret that I couldn't.

Sorry to hear about your dog :/

This is exactly the reason why I won't do any pets.

Had 3 pets in from Kindergarten till 7th grade. I'm now glad (was furious at the time) we ended up giving them away before they got to that age (moved to a rental house which didn't allow pets)

Received a call earlier this morning that the cremation was fully completed. Most people in the south don't believe in cremation (destruction of the body) so it seems there wasn't a queue.

We're extremely overjoyed they provided us with this temporary container. I almost feel as if it wouldn't be right to move it to anywhere else though.

Man I've read this every day admiring you and your strength and how you gave that puppy the fullest life it could have. Dreading the day that I lose my puppy that I've had for 15yrs that still lives with my parents. Today I got the call that she had passed. It's killing me, thats my three original pets dying within one year of each other. It sucks. Kinda like Hyan said, after the two dogs I have now pass, idk if I want anymore. They truly are ticking time bombs.

Any way dont mean to make it about me. Sorry for your loss and like I said, I admire you for giving your dog the fullest life it could have had. Where others would have given up, you didnt. And I think that is truly phenomenal.
