I don't want to need to buy a TB HD for a system (which I'm sure will be like 400x regular market price for a TB HD) just so all my games can be DLC

I was gonna get the PS4 over the next xbox but i'm not too keen on paying 2 arms and a leg for it at launch, because we all know its gonna be that expensive much.
The Xbox can certainly use a number of upgrades to its hardware. But the PS4 could bring about a few good changes:
1) Higher RAM/VRAM, whichever one is screwed over for Skyrim saves. It's a big big title that is the worst on PS3 of all the systems it plays on.
2) Built-in motion sensory. Add-ons will always be a bit weaker/clunkier than if it's built right into the system.
3) Big, BIG HD's, big enough you don't need to shift around with what, 5 different PS3's on the market? More?
4) Full backwards compatibility, I think they've realized how big this can be.
Is it really worth a new PS4 so soon? Probably not, but need to keep the hype up there with Microsoft since they lost the early console war because of their later release and such. Need to get people working on the system and a more full game library for launch, which means you announce and get dev kits out years in advance because of how long it takes to make a game. Allowing a Madden + CoD game to come out for the Xbox 1080 with only the PS3 version out? They'd lose customers for a while because of them not wanting to buy two systems but "needing" the better one.
Yeah, with all of the advantages that are easily demonstrated for PC games that are still able to sell well years after the fact due to digital distribution and sales, I'm sure they'll jump on this as soon as they think it's viable for the masses. It makes me wonder if consoles and PCs ever eventually meet at some spot because of the unique benefits each share.
Barely play either system as is besides the occasional SSF4:AE/UMvC3 sessions. Don't see any incentive for new systems when the current generation is still putting out quality games.
At least for the PS3, you can just install any HDD (it has to be a certain size like 2.5 inch or something. Also at least 500 GB has been shown to work).
Obviously the 360 uses its own HDD so you have to buy more expensive versions.
Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 could use more RAM (have 4 gig ram or something;that is, they better not be cheap and just upgrade it from 256 to 512 >.>). The biggest upgrade is RAM. Normally it's no problem but I don't see why consoles are always 5-7 years behind in the RAM department compared to PCs (I know they don't really "need it" for "most" games but remember that the lack of RAM was the main cause of PS2 limitations for FFXI).
For 720 (or whatever it will be called), they can develop their own disc like Nintendo to compete with Bluray if they can't use Bluray themselves.
I suppose the only good thing about it coming in the next couple of years is that it'll raise the upper ceiling for multi-plat games again so that devs are able to push more boundaries and make some even more impressive games being as it's somewhat impractical to develop high-budget games for PC alone (outside of specific circumstances like MMOs).
I won't be buying one for a good year or so after launch I guess.
The source is incredibly shitty, that guy says a lot of shit on his twitter account but a next gen console announcement is inevitable for M$ and $ony. Whatever the case the PS4 better not have the atrocious amount of ram the PS3 has, its been holding back the console for a few years now. Also please have the specs be strong enough to make 1080p gaming the standard now with some Anti-Aliasing.
i'll be disappointed if the ps4 can't do 1600p.
The only thing I would like to see is them spending more time troubleshooting their products to reduce incidents of RROD or YLOD.
Make it like Steam where you can pre-load the games a week early, then decrypt on launch day. Main problem I have with XBLA/PSN though is that they're hardly competitive at all compared to retail outlets. Publishers never bother adjusting the price on it until they've hit bargain bin at retail.....and it'll still cost more on the digital front.
Ditto. A modern speed blu-ray drive shouldn't have the seek speed problem that have plagued the PS3 for years, and make sure they're capable of reading BD-XLs, in the offchance dual-layered 50gb discs ends up not being large enough for some reason down the road so they're a little more future-proof.I would really like to see Microsoft man up and start using Blurays. It is getting old fast when multiplatform games have to be super linear and unable to "revisit" things because they are broken up in multiple DVD's (See FFXIII)
Personally though, this gen would have been a lot better off if both systems had a gig of ram to start with, even if it meant tacking $40 more onto the price tag.
this gen JUST started putting out quality games. fuck buying a new system and dealing with 16 months of shit games. like someone said earlier, i want better features and a more streamlined online experience instead of more raw 'power'
the best looking pc games don't look considerably better than the best looking console games, and especially not enough to warrant sony and microsoft putting out a new product.
and i REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that we don't get 3d shoved down our throats next gen.
As long as every commercial involving 3d has someone yelling this, I'd be fine with it.
THREE DEE GLASSES
^ cant stop laughing omg.... watching that high was seriously the best shit ever, thank you sir
ITS LIKE I CAN TOUCH YOU

Ah 6670 eh...? Hmmm.
Whatever it is, definitely not buying day one on either of the systems. I always get fucked. Have 2 times each with the PS3 and 360. And to further reiterate, no "next, next gen" console is needed at all. I wonder what MS is gonna do in regards to the storage issues on discs though. I highly doubt they will want to pay Sony any royalties for blu-ray. Maybe they can use HD DVD discs... LoL
