Codename would be Orbis

And Vita means Life

So trying to do something more linked with 'Ps4 and Vita'?

Also you would need to be online 100% of time to play a game. And when you play the game for the first time it will be linked to your PSN account. So if you sell the game, the buyer would get a 'limited' version demo like of the game, and would need to pay some more $ to unlock it.

Games would be sold Blue Ray or Digital.

Also release date would be around Christmas 2013.

I thought that was debunked, too.. Or maybe I read wrong or remember wrong. In any case, the part that pisses me off most is having to be online to play a game. Telling me if my internet's out for a day or two, a line goes down, service changeover or no service available for x-y-z reason I can't play a video game? Fuck off.

I remember hearing the same, though comparatively I don't remember thinking it sounded totally horrible when the xbox take on it was announced. I'm actually kind of torn because as a consumer used games are great, but they're awful for the game companies themselves and so I'm almost happy with this, but had hoped it would be something voluntary like "download this game for a discount or go out and buy it like some jerk from the 90's". The new controls in place like online pass-codes are just complete bullshit, though.

For me it really depends on how much would be charged to unlock the used copy, if it's only $5 or $10 and this causes gamestop to stop ass raping people on used game prices I might be ok with it. Of course it's all a bunch of rumors, and I imaging the public outcry would probably be enough to get them to scrap the idea before it even gets off the ground.

Yeah, the fact that Gamestop is making billions off used game sales while publishers get dick is really obnoxious...although lowering the price of new games could probably eliminate a lot of the need for used game companies. They should make the downloadable versions 10-15 bucks cheaper...that would do wonders for their overhead too I imagine.

I hate the idea of having to be connected to the internet to play a game also...although Steam already does that to me with Civ. Living out in the middle of nowhere makes the odds of me being without internet sometimes much higher than the normal consumer too.

I call bs. 2014 at the earliest since the PS3 just passed half of its expected life cycle last year. 4K televisions were just announced and by 2013, the cost will still be too high for more consumers to buy, not to mention that there might not be any content to watch at that resolution (New B-Ray formats and Broadcast TV standards will be needed). I understand the idea of planning for the future, but homes won't be saturated with 4K television sets until the price comes down a few years after their release. This is one of the reasons why the Wii didn't have HD from the start. I think the total HD sets in homes was around 20-25% which is low compared to what it is today.

Also having a game locked to a PSN account is one of the worst ideas ever. Not only does this mess with used game sales from places like Game Stop, it also screws with rental companies like Game Fly.

Full 1080p with 60fps would be a hell of an upgrade over the sub-720p current-gen consoles are producing. And it's not like a 4K console wouldn't be games running upscaled from a much lower resolution anyways at the rate video cards and their prices are evolving.

Why didn't you just link to the Kotaku article? Has more info in the rumor, such as the PS4 will have an AMD x64 processor and use an AMD Southern Islands GPU (2012 line of cards). So if the rumor is true then Sony is ditching the Cell, which explains the other part of the rumor that suggests the PS4 will have no backwards compatibility with the PS3 at all.
