Well, did a couple Ob kills (got none of the attachments I wanted, yay) as PUP/DNC solo. Absolute joke to fight at lvl99 and modern automaton AI.
since we're talking pre-abyssea content in a post world,
whats a good 2box strategy for Path of Darkness BCNM lol
Looking for advice in regards to soloing as BST up to Tier 3s. Tyger path seems best to go Chigre > Wulgaru, with Sarameya path going Brass Borer > Anantaboga. If this is plausible what is the best pet for each fight? Thanks in advance
Never really had an problems with T 1 and 2 even at like 90 using random jugs like Yuly. With Anantaboga you can also be cheap and just use the eruca nearby. By now 99 jugs would no doubt be much faster tho.
Duo'd Achamoth at 90 with no issues (used Yuly). Only thing to look out for are local adds. Babies aren't an issue because they depop if hate sits on your pet. Didn't melee beside it.
Solo shd be no problem at all.
Am thinking about trying to solo Nosferatu and Khromasoul but haven't heard of strats for it. Falcor shdnt have any problems with It's evasion I think.
Basically THF pets are awesome with their Eva. Only real concern is magic and most of the znms don't dish out hard anyway. Maybe only t4s by now
Does Nosferatu doom? That could be a pita, but you certainly avoid his bat-charm problem with a pet.
I would assume you might need a very quick diaga puller for Khromasoul just to keep your pet focused on the real NM. It might be kind of hard.
Might take longer but still work. You can always re-fight the pet on boss, which it will likely still be on mostly because boss is likely the one that deals the most dmg / hits most often
Not too sure how the adds would work either. I know add AI works weird when it's purely pet tanking, like with Achamoth and exp lamia. With decent gear they'd still be survivable for jug I think. Just takes a while
Edit: yes, dooms but I think that can be removed even
Doom isn't really an issue. I duo'd it on BST about a week ago. With some pet food theta, a good BST should have no problem. Gooey stayed alive long enough and did enough damage to make it possible. It shouldn't be a problem solo. Just make sure you get some distance. Call Beast recast should be up, unless you run into an unfortunate doom accident.
I'm currently sitting on pops for Acamoth, Armed Gears, Nosferatu, and Khromasoul. Trying to figure out which of these I can solo. From this thread, it sounds like Acamoth's adds disappear, as long as my pet has hate (which it will)?
Been afraid to try Nosferatu solo due to doom. If it weren't for doom, it'd probably be a simple fight. Just wouldn't want my pet to die repeatedly before my call beast timer is back up again. Guess I should have done this back when doom didn't work on pets, lol.
Nosferatu solo shouldn't be very difficult even with doom if you are willing to kite if your pet goes down. There is a nice path to kite around on if you need to wait on call beast timers.
What's the deal with Gotoh and Dea? Are those still a pain with their aoe?
Melee with good support could tank those fine at 75, a melee + mage should be able to smash them at 99.
So, having never done these before, the paths I figured I would do are as follows:
Tinnin
Cheese Hoarder -> Iriz Ima -> Gotoh Zah
Tyger
Lil Apkallu -> Wulgaru -> Nuhn (May do EL for dat bat)
Sarameya
Brass Borer -> Reacton? Dextrose? -> Acamoth
I play 3 characters, was planning to do these MNK/BRD/WHM but I can also brochain if necessary or bring down the hammer of Thor
You have to do all 3 T3s of a path to get acess to the T4.
Chigre is pretty easy T1 as well. Verdelet is good T2 for that path.
Dextrose is annoying and can take awhile since it keeps running around getting more hp and linking shit. Reaction was kinda odd at 75. But for T2 of that path Anantaboga was really easy for anyone with ranged dmg even at 75 with just normal kiting once you pull it to an aggro free area. Wasn't that dangerous to begin with anyways just annoying if it got charm or curse on ya lol.
You have to do each mob in T3 once to get a full T4 pop, so it's
T1x3 T2x3 T3ax1 T3bx1 T3cx1 T4x1
With 3 people:
Vulpangue > Iriz > T3 | Cheesy isn't bad but the running away slows down kills.
Apkallu > Verdelet > T3 | Wulgrau has stupid damage reduction, Verd dies fast.
____ > Anataboga > T3 | All T1's are easy in one way or another, bring a /pup for Ob. Anataboga is the best T2, reaction needs 6 people to get to the spawn, dextrose.. honestly never fought, might be fine, but anata is easy (blm's +grav, or SMN, BST[or /BST] to kill w/ pets)
I don't really have a mage option and yeah I understand it's x3.
Ana seems like it may be dangerous with Charm and only one melee, or is this shit so weak now that it won't land as a spell? My BST is 99, but I've never played BST lol. I have good DD gear and can spam muslim if that's all it takes.
I also chose not to do Vulpangue because wiki made it seem dangerous@75, which I suppose is silly but having never done them etc.
What's the strategy for Ob and why /PUP? I saw it being discussed, seems like a decent one to do if the attachments are worth money as well.
it changes form based on that of automaton in pt, and default form spams magic mortar
personally, i'd pick
cheeze > iriz
ob > ananta
apkallu > verdelet
this is mostly with me being lazy and throwing BST jugs at it. also because these are usually the ones easiest to brute force.
for Ob, people tend to /pup because pup maneuvers used nearby will influence its attack behavior, causing it to change form. Ob in mage form is no joke with Magic Mortar, which can do ridiculous damage and has crazy range.
as for Anantaboga. if your BST is 99 and you've never played it you can still probably kill fine just by charming nearby erucas and throwing them at ananta until it dies. Hell, sub bst and doing that might work too. this totally puts you out of danger anyway.
reacton is hard to reach and dextrose has a disgusting pop area iirc.
Aside from the running around, I can definitely see this going pretty quick. I'll need to get more zeni spam going though lol. I have a chestnut and since I first posted I got an apple seal and another maroon seal I don't have the zeni to convert yet. I'll try ananta as BST, would jugs be better or jug > muslim > die > CB > muslim charm etc etc?
1 jug shd do fine. Slapping on some pet: pdt and dt gear will help them last longer. Familiar if you want, throw it on, spur and ready accordingly. If you're using yuly or falcor the nm should mostly be whiffing at 99.
Reward where needed. If pet is taking damage too fast even with reward you can either burn mulsum or run wild and hope the regen helps. If mob isn't dead by 5 min, call another jug and repeat without the run wild.
Local Eruca are <lv90 so your jugs will definitely fare better, and get the job done faster. You can use them as a last resort.
The 1st rule of BST nm soloing is really to outlast the mob. If you have any difficultly keeping the pet alive consider getting some pdt pieces. amk head is the best and easiest increment with -10% dt.
Nm pieces are like shepherd chain, AH pieces like oneiros cappa. And empy legs+1 for enhanced stout servant.
The ones that are probably the hardest to get but give the most benefits are the pdt axes with up to 11% per axe for a total of 22%. I believe the max pdt (including dt and stout) comes up to like 46%.
The next focus would be a reward set to keep your pet alive longer.
