Thor 2: The Dark World (November 8, 2013)

Overall, I feel like this movie was an in-between/set-up movie for either 3(most likely) or Avengers 2 which is why Malekith was so weak as a villain. Normally this would bother me but the creativity of the final battle redeemed the movie for me.

Just saw it. Loved it. My only question is; what the hell happened to Hogun the Grim during the whole conspiracy/escape sequence?

He wasn't in Asgard. He stayed behind in his homeland after Thor showed up and pizzowned that rock golem.

Thor 2 was pretty good for what it was. No way this is better than Avengers.

I felt Malekith was pretty meh for a villain for starts. He wasn't imposing, he had no chemistry with Thor and co. and an overall one dimensional 'i need the macguffin to rule da worldz' type. However, this film was overall better than Iron Man 3 and the final battle sequence with the worlds converging was handled beautifully.

While Malekith was the big villain, I feel he was there just to start the conflict, get the ball rolling, and get the relevant characters together and interacting. The movie was about Thor and Jane and Thor and Loki more, and then they needed to resolve the Malekith thing to wrap it all up.

So any idea what happened to Odin at the end after Loki comes back? I mean, was he just away and Loki decided to have a little fun with Thor at the moment, or did Loki somehow trap Odin somewhere? I didn't think Loki would have the power to kill Odin.

I assumed since it appeared that Loki was still holding Gungnir after his illusion faded once Thor walked off that he might have been able to dispatch Odin somehow. Odin did seem quite weak throughout the film, so it seems possible, but that's really just speculation on my part.

I honestly felt that this entire movie was just a means to setup that single scene (effectively undoing Loki's imprisonment due to the events in Avengers), but I'm fine with that just because I do like the character and I am glad they didn't kill him off.

Well Odin is supposed to have been weakened due to using the dark energy he used to send Thor down in the Avengers. My guess though

Oh that reminds me--is the Bifrost supposed to be something they can just rebuild on demand? In Avengers it was clear they still didn't have it fixed.

They made it seem like such a big thing back in Thor 1 that Thor chose to save Jotunheim over being able to save Jane again, and magically the thing is just fixed now?

Yeah, we'll have to wait till Thor 3 to see what happened to Odin. I imagine he's imprisoned though, because I can't see them killing off Odin off screen.

We don't know how much time has passed between the three movies, so I don't see it as that big of an issue.

I have nothing to back this up. Loki goes with Thor to Svartalfheim. Loki is stabbed and left behind, pretending to be dead. Loki sneaks back into Asgard, kills Odin, dumps the body back in Svartalfheim. That is what the guard found, which is why LokiOdin kills him.

Loki WAS the guard that came back and reported seeing a body. Plus I highly doubt Loki killed Odin.
