in the comic back in the day, malekith did the same thing, only with Balder. since he was a known sorcerer and shape shifter, they had 'malekith' gagged and bound in rune chains to stop him from communicating or using any magic and put him in a deeeeeeep dark hole. he was eventually outted by Kurse/Algrim, who was responsible for turning him into an unstoppable juggernaut after thor beat his ass and fried him krispy in lava, anakin-vader style. since the malekith/algrim storyline's been altered in the movie (and balder's not even mentioned), i'm betting for something similar just with loki/odin.

What I don't get

is the stupid devices that "are designed to find anomalies, not create them" but somehow they make them do exactly what they want in less than 2 minutes. Hmm. I hate deus ex machinas but superhero movies are filled with them. Still, the fight at the end was pretty cool with all the worlds colliding.

Definitely not better than Avengers, but not bad. My favorite scene

was the funeral scene. So pretty and sad and the music was amazing

My biggest problem with the movie though

was how fast everything went. They didn't really give the audience any time to catch their breath or dwell on anything. It's just EVENT EVENT EVENT EVENT in a string without any breathing room. You're supposed to be invested in all kinds of relationships in this movie (Thor/that one chick, Thor/Loki, Loki/Mom, etc) but it's kind of hard to feel empathy for characters you don't really get to spend much time with. I know the first movie set up a lot of this and it's probably ideal to watch them in sequence but the movie still would have benefited from slowing down a tad when it came to character interactions.

Welcome to the trend of movies where if there is any down time whatsoever, it's terrible and boring.

It works for some, and not others, I think it worked ok for this flick. I don't think Marvel really made these movies to be super deep (maybe to lure people to read comics for more details?), but just some awesome actions movies.

Definitely one of the best part of the film.

Movie was surprisingly funny. Loki and Kat Dennings were highlights for me, other than Natalie Portman's damn beautiful self.

Watched it on Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wasn't really feeling the dark elves as the main antagonists though.

I just watched this as well, although my version didn't have subtitles so I had no idea what the dark elves were saying although I'm sure it was evil and take over the universey and really didn't matter at all.

I really enjoyed it, saw that ending scene coming a mile away but still was like oh shit oh shit oh shit. This series is by far my favorite of all marvel/capcom/whatever/superhero/mutant series.

I really didn't like the first all that much, I think they over did it with how small Rogers was and red skull didn't feel that strong of an antagonist.

I have high hopes for winter soldier though especially cause I feel it'll be better than the first to me.
