Mads was confirmed to be out of this now a week or 2 ago, much to my disappointment. I think he's a very under utilized actor. Think it was because of Hannibal TV show.
Casting new from Deadline
Spoiler: show
https://geektyrant.com/news/2012/8/1...ark-world.htmlAlice Krige, whose best known for her role as the Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact, has been cast in a small role in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World. The actress revealed that she would be in the movie while at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas this weekend. She didn't mention who she would be playing in the film, but according to CBM she did say that she may not be recognizable in the film.
The actress joins the recently cast Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed. As well as original cast members Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and a few other familiar and new faces.
The story follows the God of Thunder to The Nine Realms beyond Asgard and earth. And as his evil half-brother, Loki, returns for Asgardian justice, a new threat rises. Also rejoining Thor are his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif, gatekeeper Heimdall and Warriors Three, as they encounter mythical Norse creatures among evildoers.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/8/21...ark-world.htmlKat Dennings is officialy set to reprise her role as Darcy Lewis in Thor: The Dark World. According to Deadline her role has even been expanded. So she'll have more screen time, and be a little bit more than Natalie Portman's comic relief.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/8/22...w-villain.htmlAdewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast as one of the lead villains in Marvel's Alan Taylor-directed Thor: The Dark World. He will take on the dual roles of Algrim the Strong and Kurse.
Algrim the Strong was the most powerful of a race of Dark Elves, who is coerced by Malekith to fight Thor. After he's betrayed by Malekith and injured during a battle, Algrim is healed and transformed into a much more powerful being called Kurse, who is twice as a strong as Thor.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje has had small roles in several films such as G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, The Thing, The Bourne Identity, Unstoppable, but he's probably best known for playing Mr. Eko on LOST.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/9/7/...ark-world.htmlAnother Marvel movie rumor has been unleashed on the internet. It's interesting to see how these things start, especially when there are no real sources to the information, but it doesn't mean they aren't true, and this is one of those rumors I'd love to be true!
The latest rumor originated at The Playlist who claims that Doctor Stephen Strange will play a role in Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World. It's not the most far out rumor, but one I would take with a grain of salt until some more proof comes to light.

I want Sif to be delivered to my house so I can have my way with her
There's a big rumor that's hit the internet that might be a major spoiler if it turns out to be true. Apparently there's a chance that a major character in Thor: The Dark World will die. If you don't want to know who that character is then I suggest you don't read any further.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/9/13...r-strange.htmlFor those of you like me who were hoping that the rumor about Viggo Mortensen playing Doctor Strange was true, I'm sorry to let you know that it's not happening. Another recent rumor says that Strange might make his first appearance in Thor: The Dark World, which has not been denied.
Marvel producer Victoria Alonso recently did an interview with Omelete, and here's what she said about the whole Mortensen thing,
She must not watch many movies or keep updated on what going on these days in Hollywood, because Mortensen has definitely not retired. We would love to work with Viggo Mortensen. I've been trying that for years. But I don't know if Viggo is even acting anymore. I thought he wasn’t acting anymore. It would be great to work with him in the future, but we don’t have him signed, no.
A script for a Doctor Strange movie was already completed and turned into the studio by writers Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Conan the Barbarian, Sahara), and apparently Marvel Studios is still actively searching for a director to take on the project.
