Do I have to have to complete Guardian of the Void to participate in Jeuno Voidwatch battles, or does that quest line simply unlock the ability to initiate Jeuno Voidwatch battles?

Basically I've got my tier IV Abyssites but haven't done the second round of kills and want to know if I can join shout groups for Jeuno Voidwatch stuff.

You can participate but not start them, correct.

Fights go on for pages (and increase post counts) but don't generate any new information or really help anyone.

    * I'd be the first to admit that pchan was willing to collect/analyze data and played a useful role in the community, but testing threads are much less derogatory and more approachable for new people without him around. There's no guy with 5,000 posts swooping in and threatening the health of your mother because you didn't get a sufficient sample size on your first outing anymore.
    * I can count the pieces of novel information that rog contributed on one hand without using many fingers. His knowledge of the game was encyclopedic, but he himself did not generate new information. We've lost a little response time in RQT with him gone, but that's it.
    * When Neosutra entered threads and argued about random crap, I'd just stop reading because I knew the thread was essentially dead. I can't say for sure if he ever tested stuff or not. I know that he has recently tested things on FFXIAH and is contributing to the Paladin community nicely.
    * Thorny tested things and contributed strategies for endgame events as they were released, or optimized old strategies, but he was just too caustic for the community at this point. Last I heard he quit everything FFXI-related anyway.

I wasn't honestly happy to see any of these posters go. I didn't tend to end up arguing with any of them and knew how not to step on their toes. Still, all the negative stereotypes about BG that you see propagated through other boards are due to posters exactly like this. I'm not saying everyone who comes here looking for information is going to fit in, but we can gently show them the door instead of throwing them outside and then curb stomping them.

It used to be that asking misguided questions in RQT would get you verbally decimated by someone. Now people either just ignore it or try to redirect your question to something more defined so that they can answer it.
Wow, that's really disappointing. pchan, Thorny, and Neosutra always had great things to contribute to the community. It's a shame to hear they were banned. I know sometimes trolling annoys the piss out of people but I think their should be exceptions for people who contribute to the community. I'm not trying to backseat mod, just throwing that out there as my $0.02.

As far as Pchan goes, while he did contribute a lot, he also spewed a lot of bullshit that people just got sick of.

While on the Pchan topic, there is a newish poster, MarkovChan. Isn't this Pchan? I don't really care either way.

edit: Apparently the poster's name I was thinking of is Sorin Markov.

17 posts, most are fairly innocuous, account over a year and a half old. Maybe I'm just thinking of the official forums, MarkovChan.

Many apologies to Sorin Markov if I have identities confused.

Forums are places of discussion. In order to keep them healthy sometimes you need the cull the people who talk a lot but have nothing to say.

When mobs hate reset, especially 1's in Tahrongi Aby, is it a reset on everyone's hate reset or just the main target (usually the DD)? I ask because it seems silly that after a hate reset it always goes for a mage afterwards even if it hasn't performed an action in 10 seconds.

Should be, although it will take a lot of pet food because there are apparently no jug pets which resist Earth and I assume Turtle-Time Tremor still hits relatively hard. It might be worth testing if one of the 99-cap Plantoids has a resistance to earth, but I have my doubts they do.

Unless something can deal more significantly damage than steady Rewards can cure, which with Ducal Guard active generally requires something to deal a bad status effect or simply reduce a pet to 5 HP in a Throat Stab fashion, Beastmaster can slowly and tediously solo it.

The fight will also take even longer than usual due to Invincible being used multiple times over the course of the already long fight. You might want to just Heel your pet and scamper off during invincible if the spells are hurting it faster than you can hurl meat-flavored biscuits down it's throat.

I haven't fought Lacovie in forever, so take all of that with a grain of salt. Mostly going by other magic-happy monsters I have fought and hated fighting as Beastmaster.

It entirely depends on the reset but as far as I know it's always either just main target or everyone hit by said move that resets. Would be kinda silly to just reset everyones hate. Then it wouldn't really be that bad

Non magian only option is Laceratrice. Magian Most likely Str Telamon (this is excluding MAschu/Shamash).

Even if it resets everyone, most reset moves also do damage, making the first action the Mage curing whoever took damage, hence it goes after the Mage.

Until I see evidence of the DA damage on widowmaker being incredibly high I'm going to have to disagree as Fire Telamon stomps it pretty badly. Laceratrice/DA GA too, but by a smaller margin in laceratrice's case.

Currently leveling WHM (got +2 items and base sets, finishing it up). I set out to level my SCH sub last night and it ended up at level 60 kind of by accident. I also realized I have a ton of SCH seals and some of the SCH +2 gems/jewels from leveling other jobs.

Worth taking SCH to 99 once WHM is done? Expensive/cheap to play? Seems like it's fun and is desired at events.

    Thanks.

Embrava makes for good times. I basically just use af3 and gear I have from my other mages and I have a decent scholar, I'm sure you can do the same if you don't plan on taking the job super seriously.
