Assuming my five main jobs are THF NIN BLU DRG and RNG, and that I already have Exenterator, Stardiver and Blade: Hi, what should I spend my last 5 weapon skill merit points on?

Last Stand or Requiescat? Planning to make a Gandiva, but not WF gun. Not planning to make Almace, sick of Apademak.

There's that gun from harpy lady in dangruf. Alternatively I think theres a new high-level Obow if bolts are more your thing.

I don't understand "When archery isn't the right choice" though. When archery isn't the right choice it's because it's a phys-strong/magic-weak enemy and you'd want wildfire, but you specified no-wildfire. So are you looking more for a Trueflight gun?

On a normal physical-neutral/weak mob, I'm not sure when you'd need marksmanship over archery if that's the discipline you prefer. Unless it's procs ofc but who gives a shti about that as long as you can TP and land the WS >.>

What gear does a stoneskin set for BLM consist of? Haven't used mine for years and about the only MND piece I have on me atm is Heka's Kalasiris.

So much "enhances stoneskin" gear out there focus on that first. Stone gorget is soloable now with cap removed from Promy. Haven Hose, Seigel Sash, Earthcry Earring. Stone Mufflers...gl with that one.

Kirin's Pole (+10mnd) MND rings (+14) Heka body (+17), plus other MND pieces you likely have (INT pieces with MND on them) should easily cap you.

Rubeus Bandeau is best nuking head? I don't have my af3 hands +2 yet. So 3/5 set plus Eradico Mitts and Rubeus Bandeau?

I know I'm a clothcrafter, and its gonna come across as pimping myself, but I am so sick of seeing this piece listed as "the best option outside of af3+2 for blm, and best option for rdm/etc for nuking. Its not. Zenith+1 hands with the proper augment beats them (can get INT +4-6). I'm not saying if you're just using them to get by until you finish your goetia+2 hands for blm go spend the gil on zenith+1 and the tatters, but I am saying if you think they're tops for the other jobs there is a better option.

MAB +6 INT + 4-6

Sometimes folks can get a little cranky if I fire off Jishnu's and the mob takes off after me. Most of the time it's a "umad?" kind of thing, but I worry occasionally about mobs w/ bad AoE ws or tp hits (Pil and Ig-Alima come to mind) that could get a mage killed. Picked up the harpie gun tonight so glad to hear that's at least a modestly acceptable weapon in a pinch, until I get the last couple coins for a bedlam.

Last Stand is definitely a better weapon skill than Requiescat, but I can not imagine any situation when you'd be using a gun on Ranger and using Last Stand for damage rather than "whatever will make a !! pop up over this monster's head" if you make a Gandiva.

I say go with Requiescat because it is better than Vorpal Blade sometimes and thus you will definitely have chances to use it. Don't expect your peepee to rise up erect with joy when you do use it, though.

When did Gelzerio in Bastok Mines stop selling Silver Belts (plus Swordbelts)? You used to be able to buy them from him which was a lazy way of doing GP but looking at his stock now and he doesn't have any. Wiki and AH.com both say he should sell them too.

Now I'll have to be not lazy and craft them myself =/

EDIT: Nvm on the Swordbelts, I'm not Bastokan so that could be why.

SE revamped NPC stock a couple patches ago, removing conquest placement and possibly player nationality. NPC in sandy should still sell it

@99 what's the easiest/fastest way to kill JoL lowman without a PLD? Is it just a zerg fight and ignore the pets or break the regen and then bring him down? Looking at using 3-4 people, just lack a PLD and all low man strats I've read thus far seem to have PLD as their focal point. Thanks.

I use gun all the time on rng. Then again I also made armageddon and annihilator. Haven't really tested or done the math of if last stand would do better dmg... but WFers consistency at any range and slightly lower emnity is really nice, and the almost no emnity from coronarch are some of the biggest reasons to use guns in the first place and since he isn't making wf gun and I'd assume not anni yeah go bow

Then you're problem is with Jishnu's, not Archery. At which point the solution to "stop spamming jishnu and getting hate" pretty much boils down to Yoichinoyumi or Annihilator. Barring that, instead of looking for a good gun setup you may aswell just merit Apex Arrow. It will probably do better on harder high-end high-lvl/def mobs anyway (if not buffed out the hoo-har)
