I'm not catholic so could you explain this to me? unless this is some sort of dig at the hypocrisy of catholics and not an actual tenet of the formal religion

She's really implying that half of all the Catholics in the US vote?

And they're all going to vote the same way?

    Really?

This change seriously challenges that extremely vital tenant of the Catholic faith. If someone comes to them to get an abortion instead of going to a different institution for the procedure as before, there is now an official paper trail that proves Catholics practice birth control whereas before they could safely plug their ears and look the other way in blissful ignorance.
This law is just saying that when a church hires an employee (a book keeper for instance) and they offer their employess an insurance package, that package has to have the same standards held by other employers. Churches can't exclude insurance packages that offer free birth control because of their beliefs. No party can legally inform the church that a specific member is using contraception. The insurance company can tell the church what kind of risk pool their employee base is, but they can't specifically say "Susie is using birth control pills". They can still use birth control without the church knowing.

re: catholic insurance plans paying for birth control, I really doubt that Jehovah's witnesses have been paying for insurance plans that don't cover blood transfusions.

You should read the interviews huffpo did with people who actually gave Mitt Romney their money.
The Shit These People Believe and Say Out Loud

    Lovice Coe, 94
    Mount Vernon, Texas
Retired school bus driver and janitor
    Donated $300 to Romney

Why Romney? "He sounds like he could be president. I sure don't want to support that Obama ... I didn't vote for him because he was black and his religion was Muslim. [Romney] sounds all right to me."

What about Romney's positions? "He sounds all right to me ... I doubt I'll vote for him at all. But if I don't, it won't be because I dislike him or anything."

Leaning toward Newt instead? "He was in business with a good president. I thought Reagan did a good job. I just know he served with a good president. He'll have a little bit of knowledge about operating the nation."
    Robert Smith, 86
    Shelton, Washington
    Retired Navy officer
    Donated $770 to Romney

    Why Mitt? "He's presidential."

Was he your first choice? "Yes. He's more presidential. He has the presence to be a president."

Is Romney tough enough? "I think he is ... Look what he's done in his life."

What's he done? "You know what he's done!"

22% of the nation (41% of Liberal Democrats) say they would not support a Mormon for president

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/148100/he...rmon-2012.aspx

Romney's Mormonism is going to hit him harder than Obama's ethnicity this election

I definitely wouldn't support a Mormon for president, unless it was someone other than Mitt Romney.

I'm dying laughing every time I read the "essentially told catholics they can't be catholic".

That's so opinionated and full of shit that I honestly think it belongs on Fox News.

    Wait...

You're right. It's mostly why I ditched the faith while keeping some of the things to live by.

What I don't get, Minnesota has a population of about 5.3 million people and only 50.000 people voted... That is 1%. Why does "the" 1% get to decide who gets the nomination???

Pretty much that. I just checked and MN is an open voting state so everyone can vote in the primaries whether they're R, D, I, or U. Chalk it up to people not giving a shit.

I'm going to laughcry so hard at the propaganda machine if Santorum gets the nomination. It will be a war of Socialism versus Theocracy.
