You know as well as I that voting for 'whoever the fuck you want' is equivalent to voting for no one. Besides going to say 'well, i exercised my right to vote' why would I waste my time going to a polling station to write myself in or some candidate that literally has no chance of winning? I'd be better off blogging my thoughts and throwing them on Youtube or something.

If you want to make a statement against corporate-owned candidates then this cycle you can throw your hat in the ring for Ron Paul or just not vote in disgust. Then again I've made the fatal assumptions that Ron Paul will go 3rd party (he wont) or will win the Republican candidate slot (no way).

You're right, don't waste your vote. Vote for Kang or Kodos.

When asked if there are any fair questions about wealth distribution, Romney replied, "It's fine to talk about those things in quiet rooms and discussions about tax policy and the like."
    ....
"I believe in a merit nation, an opportunity nation where people by virtue of their education, their hard work and risk taking and their dreams -- may be a little luck -- could achieve great things," he said Thursday at a campaign rally in Florida.
Admit that success is based partially on luck and taking risks, yet in the past state that anyone not successful hasn't worked hard enough?

And really, mentioning anything in public about wealth distribution is merely that showcasing envy? What, does he think that the growing income gaps are a myth? And should be ignored completely?

I seriously lose a lot of respect for Romney if he really has that large of a disconnect between a reality other than the one he lives in.

I keep trying to find reasons to support him on some level, but then stuff like this makes me face palm.

As someone who lived in MA and quite liked Romney back when he was governor and passed Romneycare, I can honestly say that I am not voting for this man. There was, at one point, where I was considering it; but considering just how fast he sold out MA and his own plan, I am fucking floored. And every time I go back to the thought, he opens his mouth and something completely stupid comes out of it; reminding me that, no, he's a pandering nutjob.

how will romney do in the MA primary? I'm curious to see which wins out - Republicans' memory of Romney, or their hatred for Obama

See: John McCain's 2008 election campaign. He was a very popular senator with an independent streak a mile wide until he decided he needed to run hard right to win the nomination. Romney is doing much the same during the primary here and although he might learn the lesson of putting someone like Palin on his ticket, he's still making a lot of the same moves anyway. It's going to get worse and worse when the field narrows and he's free to make more specific policy promises to build support amongst the hard-right Tea Party and other fans of Republican intransigence in Congress. Just wait, as soon as Super Tuesday is over he'll steer right into their arms. I wouldn't be surprised to hear someone in his campaign question Obama's citizenship in April.

How in the hell did you get that out of that article? Looks like your worldview is making you create unfounded assumptions.

so conditions of income equality that are seemingly worse than those that created the great depression, that's brought on by envy and entitlement, not just a basic need to be able to make wage you can actually survive on.

then what is it when people in the higher brackets think the same thing? Someone making 1m isn't envious of someone else making 1m. Warren Buffet isn't envious of anyone. What is he if not envious or looking for a free ride

Yeah. The reactions to it were pretty damn hilarious as well.

Someone also pointed out the parallel to the onion article that predicted this kind of column.

I think what's most perplexing is the real belief that people that cannot afford to get what they want aren't working hard enough.

Some people don't even get the chance, some people actually are working at their maximum, and others are just privileged assholes who were born into "luck".

It's one thing to envy the rich, it's another to be a rich snooty shitface who rents out a hospital wing and has security rough up other patients and blot out security cameras because your precious ugly face doesn't want to be photographed or bothered.
