I'd start at about level 65 against level 77 Hpemdes with no skill merits (and an instrument of course) and collect control samples first.

It doesn't cost MP. You can March yourself. Spamspamspam!
    problems:

    1) need earth obi and wind obi
    2) need someone to do with (sandstorm/windstorm are in the sch level 40s)

May just test with something else. Maybe Sleep since I can main SCH and use Voidstorm, I already have Anrin and Korin, and light/dark are sequential days making it easier to test in one go. Unresisted Sleep is 60 seconds so should be able to get in at least 50 casts of each per game day. Can record the resist states too since they are obvious for Sleep (30 sec or total resist). Wouldn't use Sleep II to overwrite so I can watch for the half resists.

Edit: Sleepga? Could get a boatload of samples with Sleepga. Are the higher level Om'hpemdes all level 77? Or is it a window (76-77 or whatever)?

50 data points per hour of non-automated testing is going to take a lot of man-hours to hit significance when we're anticipating a ~10% difference (assuming you can find anything that resists your sleep on SCH?).

If I was doing it on BRD I wouldn't bother with storms or Obi and would stick to day. Kill it with sample size. If you *felt* like it, you could not use an instrument, be 99, and go BRD/SCH to cast a storm on yourself.

Edited my post while you were replying, could use Sleepga instead to multiply the sample size by a lot. Question about hpemdes above - are they all 77 (the higher level ones) or is there a window? It's just a matter of setting level low enough to get sleep to resist, isn't it?

And I'd anticipate far more than a 10% difference. Assuming it works the same way as damage bonus, there should be a hugely significant difference between dark day/weather+obi and light day/weather+obi.

It's a 20% damage difference between darkday/weather with and without Obi. Assuming it's +/- 20 MAcc, that's +/-10~20% MHit Rate depending on your initial MHit rate.

Remember that the lowest level you can set yourself to is 71 while still using Obi. Hpmedes are a range of levels and you're only going to be able to keep them near you if you're also meleeing them for 0. Also, you won't be able to tell resist states because they spontaneously shed debuffs when they deagro I think.

BRD/SCH without an instrument and with Elegy spam would probably be the way to go for me. You can entirely automate it and just do the analysis later. I bet you could get about 200 casts per hour with a well-made script.

The original data didn't show partial resists, so any partials were assumed from the data. Furthermore, the Japanese is worded the same for magic damage and cures, but they use the same term as weather (And do not grant additional weather bonus to an existing bonus).

By the way I doubt you'll ever manage to do those tests because from what I remember from my bind tests (long aga at 75), thei have a very low resistant to anything. The only way I'd get resist was to be on a melee job with rdm sub.

We talking about hpemdes? Back when I did my obis (pre cap raise) I would pull with drain, bind, wait for it to open its mouth, then sleep it and nuke the fuck out of it. Never noticed anything like you're describing.

Also bringing it back to SCH: I'm supposed to to find room in my already 78/80 inventory for miscellaneous macc gear, 500 enhancing gear, and haste/fast cast gear? /wrists.

Try to keep on your inventory only the essentials. Like, don't carry around hMP gear, don't carry all your obis at once, don't carry the Helix-specific pieces if you're not going to Helix/Kaustra, etc.

I dont carry hmp gear and i only keep 4 obis.

Been considering sacking the helix gear but there isnt really a lot that isnt used for other stuff too.

The problem isnt that I carry around useless shit, the problem is there a bunch of useless shit thats only needed for legion.

be my guest. between a cure/fastcast/enhancing magic/nuke/debuff etc. there is no room. i would get more room if SE actually finally decides to add one more trial to magian staffs so you can combine them into one, same for obis, god shits retarded.

Again, I know it's a pain to leave some stuff behind, but... Do you really need to bring to Legion your debuff gear? Or your Helix gear? Or ALL your obis? I wish SE combined magian staves and obis too, of course. Ah, what a dream.... But I'm sure I'd quickly find a way to fill my inventory again >_<

This. Make it hard, make it expensive, I don't freaking care. Chatoyant is nice, but on blm I still need like 10 staves....and yes, combining the obis would be pure win.

Satchel the stuff you aren't currently using? That should free up most the obis. You should know ahead of time if you are going to be doing some stuff with a little leeway where you can take it out

    If it's legion:
    15 Idle
    15 Stun
    15 Cure
    15 Fast Cast
    15 Enhancing
    4 Meds
    1 Pearl

That's an exaggeration since you can share slots between them (ex: Anhur for Fast Cast and Enhancing).

Okay, just checking in again. We've settled on this Mul strategy for now:
Ranger Party - RNG x4, BRD, COR (Minuets x2, Hunter's, Chaos : Rangers use Bounty Shot)
Scholar Party - SCH x3, PLD, WHM x2 (Scholars stun, Paladin drops after Perp Regen V and Embrava, WHMs divide melees with the melee party WHM and cure them)
Melee Party - DD x3 (DRG/WAR/DRK but varies), COR, BRD, WHM (Chaos, Fighter's, Minuet x2, Scherzo for Wave 1, one Madrigal instead of Minuet on Wave 2)

We don't swap CORs or BRDs because our group is terrible at it and it wastes too much time, but we'll have to start swapping them for Marches on the melee when the Embrava nerf happens. Groups that swap bards, do you just assume a minimum level of competence from your party leaders, or do you let your bards basically do it themselves using Autoexec scripts on the party leaders?

We kill this order for both waves: Ironclad -> Harpy -> Mantis -> Naraka

    Random notes:
    1) I have only seen the Naraka cast Kaustra once, and I can't be sure we were pulling it in this order that time.
    2) We choose to do the Harpy second because our PLD complains that she has huge range on her attacks and hits hard.
    3) Our stunners think that Preying Position gives the Wave 2 mantis a MEva boost. They say they can stun him until he gets it off, then he starts to resist.
    4) Last night our Wave 2 Naraka tried to use Sakra Storm at low HP, which is the first time I've noticed him ready that TP move I think.

Last night we reached the final wave of Mul with >10 minutes left, then killed the Gallu and squandered our remaining time wiping to Botulus. three requestions, bolding and obnoxifying the most important one:
    1) Does anyone that uses Rangers have some parses they can send me/post? I find that our melee still parse 20% and that our four Rangers and two CORs make up the other 40%. Furthermore, our best COR parses 7.7% while our best Ranger parses 11.5%. I'd like to compare that to other groups.
    2) How do you survive Botulus? Equally importantly, how do you damage Botulus (bring moar WAR?)
    3) Melee, do you turtle? If so, how much do you turtle? I find that Scherzo saves my ass pretty well against everything other than the Naraka and Gallu, which are still perfectly capable of one-shotting me.
