In case you haven't heard, comic book publishers and retailers run a yearly "Free Comic Book Day" promotion. Basically, you go into your local comic book shop, grab a bunch of free comics (some stores limit you to a few pickups), meet new people, and realize that said stores exist.

Archie ran a free comic book last year with their Mega Man and Sonic line, and it looks like they're repeating that in 2014. On May 3rd, 2014, you'll be able to grab a special comic involving Mega Man X. It's a "flipped" comic, so it has Mega Man on one side and Sonic on the other.

Make note of the date and make sure to shop up early if you want a shot at grabbing the book of your choice! As a side note, Street Fighter will make an appearance as well.

Pretty sure most of us expected this to happen when Disney purchased them but it was made official today that Star Wars comics will be moving from Dark Horse to Marvel next year.

All of the Ultimate stuff this week was pretty good.I swear Bendis brought out his A game for this since alot of his weak points weren't nearly so bad this week and weren't nearly as noticeable as usual. He actually did a pretty good job. Especially on

The part where Ultimate Reed was in the 616 Baxter building and saw the picture of everyone plus the kids. Reed apologizing to Sue for breaking up was dumb because SHE broke up with Reed(and for bitchy reasons too) but Bendis isn't known for actually remembering stuff that happened.

So the April solicits have hit for Marvel. One special item listed on is Amazing Spider-Man #1 by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. Seems the Superior days are coming to an end for Ock.

Cataclysm is underway in the Ultimate Universe. Galactus has found his way from the 616 Universe and it hasn't been looking good. The fear was this marked the end of the entire Ultimate Universe and line of books.

You didn't really believe that would happen, did you?

It may be the end but it's also the beginning. Marvel has announced via the Associated Press that there will be hard times and sacrifices but it's not quite over just yet.

"They're able to win the day, but at great sacrifice, a sacrifice that is so huge that it changes the entire landscape," said Bendis. "It creates a place that demands a fresh start from everyone who surveys it."

Marvel will relaunch the Ultimate Universe in April under the banner Ultimate Marvel NOW!

Axel Alonso, Marvel's Editor-in-Chief, mentioned it as an opportunity to tear things down and make them better.

"Once again, we're destroying something and building something new, but there's an end game in sight. We created the line to take chances," he said. "Dead is dead. The long and short of it is this: The Ultimate (universe) benefits from a good, old kick in the butt.

The books we can expect are MILES MORALES: ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN by Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez, ALL-NEW ULTIMATES by Michel Fiffe and Amilcar Pinna and ULTIMATE FF by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Mario Guevara.

Seems about right except for Iron Man. New Ultimate FF title that is also coming is Iron Man, Sue Storm, and some other genius level characters including one who is a psychopath(guessing Reed).

They are pretty much the same thing. A graphic novel can be a couple things. 1) Can be a collection of multiple issues from a comic book, 2) Can be an original comic story released as a graphic novel(but it's still a comic book). They can be a good source of reading a story from a comic instead of finding/purchasing single issues.

Amazing Spider-Man /w Peter is coming back once the Goblin War arc finishes, and Miguel will be taking over in Superior. Fraction or Peter David will be taking over Superior, with Slott covering twice a month ASM.

So does same rule apply to manga volumes? Single issues that can be released in magazines but simultaneously published as stand alone volumes in a serial or cyclical release?

Generally yes. You'll see the single chapters published in Shonen Jump or whatever, and the collections of chapters spit out every few months.
