It's painful seeing how well planned and thought out some writers can be (Hickman is still really telling the same story he started in FF Dark Reign, along with Remender still continuing what he started in UXF # 1) and then see the lazy shit Bendis is spitting out with every issue.

Ultimate Spider-Man has stayed consistent likely in part to it having always been his, and the fact that he can always do what he does best (teen angst)

It's an entire event based around endless rehashing for a quick buck that can be summed up as copying off of another event from a different company(Crisis of infinite Earths and the various crisis events DC is known for) while utilizing nostalgia in a cynical corporate way. This entire thing is exactly like a Mojo plot. The only thing that would make it more so is a series of toys and tie ins to the movie universe.

Except this story has been building for years, and the story has been great. Other than alternate realities, its hardly a rip-off of Crisis. And the 'rehashing' and 'utilizing of nostalgia' hasn't even happened yet so we have yet to see exactly what it entails.

If you've been paying attention to Hickman's work all the way thru Fantastic Four we even already know how Secret Wars will end, depending on just how bad Franklin and Val fucked up the timestream by saving Reed.

God I loved how Remender wrote Spider-Man in this week's Axis. Overall things are really heating up in a good way. My only question:

A coworker today told me about Marvel Unlimited. I had stopped reading comics back in 2003, due to rising cost and such and college being where my money went. Does anyone here have it and can vouch for if it's worth the cost or not?

So it is not up-to-date(ie All-New Cap came out this week). It is usually about 6-8 months behind current releases iirc? It also doesn't have a lot of older stuff, although it does have a lot of firsts. It is a great way to get caught up on things from the past few years however and it worked really nicely when I had a subscription to it. If you aren't someone who needs to read it day one and can wait awhile, it is worth the cost.

You be surprised and half the fun of cosmic is in how Earth is just some backwater shithole to the rest of the universe. It has a rich and interesting history to pull from.
