This panel description for the Rabum Alal reveal in this weeks New Avengers just might be my finest work yet.

    Spoiler: show

Brevoort did an interview discussing the reveal today. Spoilering the bit that probably clears things up the most.

    Spoiler: show
Rabum Alal is not the Doctor Doom we've already seen in New Avengers. Kind of. He's the Doctor Doom from slightly into the future. So the guy that Namor was talking to when he tried to recruit him for the Cabal was not Rabum Alal but was Doctor Doom. Doctor Doom did not become Rabum Alal until he went on his trip with Molecule Man.

this is what i figured was the case. somehow i had a feeling it would be him when i started reading the issue. just thinking about everything that had been shown thus far and then not mentioned in a while

Yah, it's obvious time is wonky in this whole event from The Living Tribunal's corpse traveling back in time to the moon to Rabum Alal also going back in time to start up the Black Swans and whatever else he's working on. I always thought Rabum Alal was part of the Beyonders.

Read it, not a fan of the reveal. After all the build up it feels like it went out on a cliche. I wasn't expecting a Thunderbolts or Runaways level reveal, but this was "Iron Lad is Kang"/"Tobi is Obito" tier lame.

Hickman's built up a lot of good will in this storyline, so I'm gonna follow it through and have faith he can pull it off.

For whatever reason issue 38 which is part of Black Vortex came out before issue 37 which isn't

Bendis addressed it a while back.

so Sara had to go deal with real life and wasn’t able to draw the issue. instead the amazing Michael Del mundo has stepped in to create fully painted artwork for the issue. I have been waiting for my next turn to work with Michael since our time on the Guardian’s infinite comics

Sara, in the meanwhile, will be gearing up for our next big project together

luckily the issue is a standalone story, it is the Jean Grey Emma Frost issue, and its effects on monthly concerns is minimal. so Marvel made the decision to ship it after the black vortex issues by Andreas Sorrentino.

frankly I was very envious that Matt and David were able to ship Hawkeye issues out of order last year and I jumped at the chance

as to why they didn’t just rearrange the numbers, it probably was an insane amount of nightmare paperwork.
The logic behind paying a guy to fully paint an already late issue that even it's writer says isn't important is a whole different matter.

I love the X-Men, but their sales are shitty comapred to their heyday(% wise, everything is down money wise). If you include digital sales(which numbers are hardish to come by), Bendis x-men books are like mid tier on Marvel sales last I heard.

X-Men was the best in the 90s and peaked at the Onslaught story.

X-Men #1 sold the most issues. Claremont and Jim Lee were writer and artist.

For all the hate Claremont gets(and his 2000 X-Men series deserves it), he also wrote most of the classic x-men stories.
