Agreed. At least in regards with talks regarding RPGs. BG is actually one of the few places where there isn't like 90%+ people hating on FF+SE anytime an FF game is mentioned, which is refreshing.
Also the complaints regarding Vanille are all wrong IMO. Her voice is music to my ears <3 (obviously because Vanille is awesome). Yes I'm complaining about people complaining about Vanille.
Speaking of battle dialogue though... it's what made the game for me in both TLR and FFXIII (besides Vanille herself, it was her talking in battle that made FFXIII for me).
I got TLR just because I found there was a decent amount of battle dialogue in the demo (if there was none, the game would be dull for me).
Though I can understand Rush does say some odd things in TLR (one line for example is "they caught us with our pants down"). You can always not set him as union leader though (he only says that as union leader).
One of my complaints regarding FFXII was that it had no battle dialogue at all. To me, it was boring grinding in a dungeon with dungeon music with no battle dialogue. They don't have to make it excessive, just maybe a 1/10 or 1/5 chance a line is said every spell cast or something.
FFX-2 and FFXIII did it well IMO. FFX had battle dialogue too but it was really rare (though I think they increased the frequency in the international version).
Though I can understand dislike for battle dialogue in certain situations. I haven't played Xenoblade but from watching videos, I noticed that it seems they talk over each way a bit too often (in battle). There definitely should be a delay between how often they talk so they don't talk over each other.
