Can't co-sign the FFXII hate, shit was a solid game. For that matter, I hated VIII when it came out, but when I went back as an adult and replayed it I really liked it.

No Gundam game with ZoE controls is still an affront to the existence of the earth.

NA action games in general. Why can't NA devs make good action games? Actually, I should replace NA with western, because UK devs fucking suck at it too, as do Germans and all the rest.

Is God of War really the best we can do?

Isn't it a UK developer making Dante Makes me Cry? I think it might be alright, aside from Dante.

Yeah, I don't think I considered him the main character more than two hours in. I had always considered Ashe to be it.

There are plenty of good NA action games; people just like to refer to them as NA-RPGs these days. I am clueless as to why.

Isn't it a UK developer making Dante Makes me Cry? I think it might be alright, aside from Dante.

There's a split effort between NT and Capcom, because I know that NT cannot pull off anything resembling a DMC game by themselves. I heard ages ago that Capcom were doing the combat which is really the only important part, so I dunno if I can call that a success for the UK. The combat looks at least better than 2, but there are some design choices that look to hamper game play that have NT written all over them.

Also the general hypocrisy of people who hate on all DLC, then DLC comes out for a game they like and suddenly it's ok, cough, Dark Souls, cough.

I don't think people hate on all DLC per say. It's just most people hate having to pay for something that should have been in the game in the first place, which is what most DLC nowadays has devolved into. It's money hungry to put out an incomplete game and then put out day 1 DLC for it. Dark souls is a complete game so people would have no problem buying a DLC expansion or whatever, compared to say if From Software decided to release a $5.00 DLC on day 1 so that you could fight the hellkite dragon otherwise it was invincible.

Those aren't the action games I'm talking about at all. Third/First Person shooters (with RPG elements) aren't action games. Or maybe the proper term is pure action?

This is more like it, and I've played all of those games. Dead Space isn't what I'd consider pure action although survival horror games are becoming more action orientated. It's still more of a third person shooter than an action game.

As for Darksiders and Dante's Inferno, I thought those were alright but neither of them grabbed me with combat. If there's one thing westerners tend to do better with their action games, it's story and setting. But usually the game play is nothing to write home about.

Even then, I could see where he's coming from. Maybe I'm more forgiving because I'm unbiased, but a game not having plans for DLC signals that it's likely a complete game and the company didn't plan on releasing half a game with the other half being day 1 DLC. I see what you're saying though. Flip Floppers.

Things I hate:
BF3 vs MW3 arguments. They aren't even the same game.

That's not exactly an NA-only issue though, sure all NA action games play like God of War clones, but the major JP action games all play like Dynasty Warriors or Devil May Cry. The NA audience is currently caught in a FPS stranglehold anyways, you're not going to see a whole lot of studios devoting resources to a non-shooter when FPS are proven to generate revenue, as are the God of War clones.
