What about Armstech?
Armstech can make oranges that can have augments so they're somewhat useful until you get a PVP wep or raid wep.
I found Synthweaving to be incredibly useful while I was leveling and all but useless since I got into end game. I use it to help my friends gear up or I would have dumped it long ago.
I'm afraid to abandon Armormech right now just incase they figure their shit out and fix it...
GIVE US THE ABILITY TO REPAIR!!!
Armstech can make 224 epic quality weapons if you RE the green versions to get the schematic. It's rather useful pre-raiding / valor, as Rakata is only 226 itself, and champion weapons are in the 230s. Battlemaster weapons are... 246 I believe? I'm nowhere near getting them.
tldr: Biotech is more useful, although personally I'd make yourself some weapons for alts and junk before unlearning it. Either way, money is easy as hell to get in this game, and it's not like you're buying anything else.
yeah my main use of synth has been to twink the shit out of my alts.
All this tortanic shit cracks me up for some reason.
I'm scared to switch to biochem because I know the day I do they will announce the proposed changes to make armortech and synthweaving useful at endgame.
Armstech is fairly useless at 50 to be honest. You can get a 126 rating barrel/hilt with just 8 daily quest tokens which automatically makes whatever orange weapon you're using better than most of the craftable weapons. 126 rating weapon schematics drop in HM/NM EV but why go through all that trouble when you can just do a few daily quests?
So Biotech the only worthwhile skill to have capped? Any word on whether they'll make the other crew skills more interesting?
Too funny.
Bio is by far the best craft, as the re-usables are just too convenient, compared to the usable items. People also snatch up the Purple implants you can make, mostly for pets, but for an instant power up at 50, it's really not bad.
Armortech and Synth also aren't a bad choice because of the wrist/belt purple crit items are basically BIS or will last you a super long time until you can get 'better.' You need to be able to get Hard Mode mats though, so that can be a problem.
If you do go bio, it's much better to also have Bio-analysis and Diplomacy. I went Slicing, Bio-tech, and Diplomacy, but I had to bum most of the grade 5-6 mats, from a guild friend, to level mine, as my server's Republic side material supply is non-existent over grade 4.
I dropped 400 armor/scava/underworld for Bio/Bioa/Diplo. 140/140/70 atm.

Kinda funny.
It pretty much is now. You can sort of argue there is a use for Cybertech, but not much of one since they nerfed it. I am a Cybertech and before the nerf it was OP. I was glad people were focusing on Biochem and I thought they would ignore how retarded Cybertech was, but they didn't and nerfed it the same time as Biochem. The reusable Rakata style epic grenades used to do retarded damage. Like an AoE stun that does 4k damage to enemies around it or a 70% snare AoE that did 5k aoe damage. Now it is more like an AoE stun that stun up to 3 close targets and does 400 damage and goes towards the resolve bar for all of them.
Obligatory bitch for servers being down from 5pm to 9pm my time on Saturday night, which is the only night this week I can play.
UPDATE: Today's server maintenance has been extended. At this time, we do not have an estimate for the end of the maintenance. Thank you for your patience.
