Rift ruined me for TOR honestly. Going from their raids to TOR's is night and day. Hammerknell was such a well designed 20-man that everything after it feels generic and easy. Coupled with the fantastic UI and the class system. That's probably my biggest gripe is i hate hate hate being stuck in 1 class. I liked being able to swap on the fly to an assassin, bard, ranger, or marksman for whatever the raid or party needed. It's the closest thing i've found to XI's job system, which i still think is the best. 1 class system just bores me to tears.
Using my amazing perception of reading several different forum (read: completely personal observation), I believe that SWTOR may have been the best possible thing for Rift. Meaning people are reconsidering Rift now because of it's high quality even though it wasn't their favorite game when it came out, because they can see how much content has come out compared to SWTOR. Additionally, they can see how good Rift was at launch compared to how bad SWTOR was at launch.

Oh absolutely. SWTOR is very polished. But like the prequel movies (I can't believe I'm actually doing this), the game lacks any soul. I said this before and I'll say it again, if SWTOR copied everything (good) from WoW, it would of been a much better game. Rift only received negative remarks because it was JUST that. But well said r3 - SWTOR makes Rift look good and actually playing it again (renewed my sub last night) makes me feel glad to play it again.

I think I'll balance playing Rift and SWTOR until more information about GW2 and TERA are released.

Here's a complaint: Having a team of people who think that just because you're up two, you don't have to attack the flag carrier, because they can't come back from that.

    Four games in a row.

had a guy tell me yesterday that it was impossible for any team to come back from a 4-0 game with 12 minutes left. No one, even pros, could manage it. . .

Hope you told him about that one time we came back from 1-4 to win 6-4. Pretty sure that was way shorter than 12 mins too.

So I had a SWTOR game card on my account, and I had until March 20th I believe until I had to start paying for the game. EA randomly bills me today and I have 60 days of remaining game time now because they added on to my already existing game time. Thanks EA.

A wonderful video clip with earth shattering comments about the successful launch.

James Ohlen (Studio Creative Director, Biodrone Empire): We've spent years working on this game, and we wanted to make the greatest Stars Wars game for our fans.

*Adorable picture of EA with NASDAQ sign*

    MSNBC: Game of the Year

Stephen Reid (Senior Community Manager): People are on call 24/7 round the clock every day, ready to react.

    Community member comments:

Bruce Rodden: I'm in the movie. This is amazing!

Ernest Cline: This is playing Star Wars, with like the best toys that... our technology can offer.

Jack Patillo: I want to make Mako happy!

Erica Moilanen: I'm not high. As long as your cock continues to be like that, I will play with it for a long time.

EA: WHERE'S THE FUCKING MONEY SHITHEAD!

Me: EA you rascal! Who let you out of the cage?

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's because I play Empire, but the game didn't really give me that "Star Wars feel". I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's just not there for me.

Game doesn't feel epic at all. I like the chick that they got to do an interview. Apparently she hasn't hit 50. I like how they claim every world is so awesome. And oh you ran into... one... person for pvp? hah.

The game does feel epic during Act I. Act II starts to drag on and the finale is kind of nice to see the entire story wrap up.

BH here is how I felt:

Act 1 8/10 on epic scale
Act 2 5/10 on epic scale
Act 3 finish 9/10 on the epic scale
Fresh 50 for a few weeks 6/10 on epic scale
50 and got pretty much all purples and beat everything 1/10 on the epic scale

Ok, I take it I'm not the only one that received a random as fuck email last night, despite the fact that my account is cancelled?

I got one too, but it actually says it's an invoice from when they charged me a month ago, when the free trial period ended. I double checked on swtor.com and it only shows that they billed me the one time, and that my account is still closed. 'course, I was being optimistic and did a 90-day recurring, so the time remaining should actually be accurate.

Just going to throw this out there but maybe what people are really looking for is the grind. In reading these complaints (and I understand people on this board are just a small minority of SWTORs playerbase) the biggest complaints are lack of community and lack of shit to do once you hit cap. As much of a grind as ffxi was, with open world HNM, the tough leveling curve (pre abyssea), the rng on drops, etc. thats exactly what kept people playing for years on end to get those minimal upgrades for their toon.

Ever since ffxi I've been waiting for that MMO that would capture me for 5yrs+ and it still hasn't come yet. It's the same thing with every new game. Pre-release excitement, hype train in full effect, release day bugs and server overload, euphoria as you level to cap, excited that you're capped and can "end game" now, hit cap and realize pvp sucks (gear based, valor points, noobs on my team etc.), pve comtent sucks (hate doing same dailies, raids, dungeons over and over again), quit.

As much as we like to bitch about the grind maybe thats what we really need in an MMO since thats what ultimately brings people together and forms lasting relationships. In all the rage that valkurm dunes brought about it sure was fun to bitch about the noobs you got in your party to your ls. Community actually meant something in ffxi, you wouldn't do dickheaded shit (or at least you would think twice about it) since your reputation actually meant something. Also probably had to do with the fact all your playtime was tied to one char instead of the leveling alts method thats in vogue today.

New MMOs just don't have this model and since WoW the end result has been the same. Should we rethink the "grind"?
