Yep, my wife and I quit end of June with rumors of ftp otw. Looks to be the right call, we'll pick it back up now that it's free
There was an article posted on a German site on August 5th that came from a "trustworthy" source regarding 3 (probably the most gigantic so far) rumors regarding the company as well as the founders. I did not post it back then because it was locked by a BioWare employee stating that one of those mentioned still worked there.

This article was released today:

Here are the 3 rumors released on August 5th:
1st. BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk might have left BioWare or could be in the process of leaving the company.
2nd. BioWare co -founder Ray Muzyka might have left BioWare or could be in the process of leaving the company.
3rd. BioWare Austin might be coverted to EA Austin.
Bioware died the day EA bought it.
So sad but so true. And I was hoping they could recover after the mess that was Dragon Age 2.Bioware died the day EA bought it.![]()
Nooooo not Greg and Ray![]()
I guess rumor #1 and rumor #2 become official today. BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk retire from studio and industry.

In other news SWTOR is now going through its 2nd server merge. Initially from 216 servers down to 26 down to 20. I'm kind of surprised that The FatMan is gone.

Retired or "quietly forced out" or "getting the fuck out while there are still lifeboats available to jump onto"?
I always wonder when these types of big projects never quite go as expected, because you always see this. Funcom had essentially the same exact thing happen. Its like looking into a mirror.
To be fair the new servers are using their new 'mega' server tech. Things would be different (not huge amounts of better, but a little) had they released with this tech.Originally Posted by Ambrosia;5401574

I don't know much about E.A, but every time I hear about them it's a shitfest. Anybody have a compilation of all the shit E.A shitted? I'm lazy to google.
I don't have some huge list to cite, but my two biggest examples were their acquisition of Westwood and Maxis. Westwood because they essentially burned Command and Conquer into the ground afterwards, and Maxis because The Sims started turning into a bland, sterile shell of its former self. From alcohol parties, people getting hopped up on espresso and vibrating sex beds to the tripe we have in the Sims 3. Lets not even talk about Simcity, but at least they're making a new one.
What Lucavi said. It's mostly that they have a tendency to acquire studios, cannibalize their talent and IPs (if they can cannibalize the IP), then finally deal a deathblow to the studio once it is a shell of its former self.
Bullfrog, Origin, Pandemic, Westwood, Maxis... The list goes on.
OK ok, I cave on this one too. I'm afraid I've run out of patience with SWTOR. The piece on the optimisation of shadows taking higher precedence than actual content or even the server merger is just ridiculous. What's finished it for me right now though is finding out about Guild Wars 2 which I had no idea about nor the slightest interest in until a friend mentioned. SWTOR had so much potential but right now no new content. Advertising a live feed of developers talking about the same shit they've been talking about for months has just finished me.
SWTOR levelling, character plot etc is some of the best out there but endgame is dead and once you have one character in full augmented war hero and over conqueror rank (with not a huge effort), a second 60+ valor and fast completing their full War Hero, all ops done except HM Denova... you can't really face doing it all over again. The only reason we haven't finished Denova is because a lot of our guys have gotten bored and quit. Right now most of our officer team has just had enough and we're all messing around in GW2. PvP matches are better in SWTOR but there's nothing to compare to WvW in GW2.
You gotta love announcing HK-51 in like July and not have plans to release it until later this year. Also, announcing a new playable race but it wont be released until its ready?
The last time content was released? April? 6 months no content = ~$72 spent for nothing
lol they still haven't released HK? Damn, they announced that like month 2...
I'm really surprised they still have Dev conferences or community Q&A's at this point. Their reach for a fan base are now the hardcore players and the casuals that still RP to 50. If this game was released today, the amount of content is still underwhelming for me to pay a sub fee.
Its almost embarrassing to continue to interview the developers in the way they're doing it. To back that up, the majority of the interviews are still pre-determined answers that find no resolution or progress towards existing issues surrounding the game, its just a lot of kiss ass and "we cant release that information" - well fuck you if you can't, its a sinking ship just tell us how long we have.
I'm still shocked that this game may still have over 500k subs (remains profitable with a sub fee with a user base of 500k). Are the servers even full? 20 servers with maybe 3000 people on at all times doesn't add up to 500k.
It's frustrating because I actually really like the setting and a lot of the things about the game. But without content the thing is dead.
The game just played horribly though. Especially as a Merc... Tracer, tracer, tracer, rocket thing, laser, tracer, tracer, tracer
This seems relevant...
