From what a friend of a friend told me, all the story missions end on a "cliffhanger" and this new "expansion" is meant to finish them. I may as well get the subscriber bonus on it while this free month is still good.

I wouldn't really say that any of the story missions ended on a cliffhanger. It's probably better to think that Chapter 4 will be about finding out what kind of power plays a 3rd party (Hutts) are up to and how that affects each of the classes and their respective alliances during the Cold War.

edit: or it could not continue your class story at all.. you know the only thing you guys ever did right. Yeah let's just drop that.

Hi everyone - I asked Jeff Hickman for some clarification for you on whether Makeb will feature an extension of class stories. Here's the info:

"The intent for Rise of the Hutt Cartel is to continue your character's story, but envisioned as part of the ongoing struggle of the Empire vs. the Republic. There are lots of great moments for you to enjoy, and it will be shared as two clear storylines. Sounds like one story for Republic and one for Empire, with slight flavor dialogue thrown in (i.e. GREETINGS SITH LORD or NICE TO SEE YOU MASTER JEDI) depending on what you play. As I expected it to be.

I finally started playing this about a month ago, since I have three friends from FFXI on it who were willing to make new characters and static with me. I feel like I wouldn't be able to really play this game and enjoy it if I didn't consistently have three other people (Skype definitely makes it more fun, too). I mean I've started one or two others and its just.. meh. The game doesn't feel like an MMO to me, feels like I'm playing Monster Hunter or Borderlands or some 4-player co-op title, which I'm perfectly fine with/prefer anyway.

I am, however, really enjoying the time I'm spending playing with friends. This whole level cap/new planet update being a paid expansion weirds me out, I'm used to FFXI's model of fairly large patches and battlefields being like.. I dunno, every six month big patches? Shoulda been free if you're a sub, pay ten bucks if you're F2P. But, again.. EA.

Eh, people gladly paid ten bucks for each Abyssea expansion, I look at it in much the same vein. Of course, you didn't HAVE to buy Abyssea to break the level cap, but it sure would have been much more annoying and you would have missed out on a ton of gear. Maybe that is the route that should be taken here?

So if I'm reading this right there will be no class specific storyline advancement and it's just going to be a quick 10(?) levels increase with annoying huttese language? You want people to pay for this? Well I sure hope they release another gear set after campaign that looks even more fucking retarded than its predecessor otherwise I just don't know if I can throw my money at it!

God damn am I happy I quit this shit.

Difference here, guy, is that SE adds plenty of free content too, including a 24 level cap increase. SWTOR's had only one major content patch that I'd consider adequate (1.2), everything else has been complete and utter shit, 1.3~1.6 almost being half of what Guild Wars 2, an MMO that's only been out for a couple of months and has never charged a subscription, has added in its short lifespan. They've done nothing to deserve any money for any content that they add, and the fact that they're charging $10~20 for something of this small a scale is absolutely ludicrous.

Absolutely agree with Prothescar. Its a shame, really. I would have liked to give the game another shot to finish a couple more characters to 50, but not with the shit they are trying.
Guild wars 2, as mentioned, is doing quite well and you don't have to pay a thing to keep playing and can do everything the game includes, plus the guys from Planetside are doing it well as well, particularly emphasized by this quote: "The players are content for one another, so the free players are just as important as the ones who are paying.” - SOE President John Smedley
But EA & Bioware just don't get it and probably never will.

EA literally only cares about money, just like activision. They don't give a fuck about gamers, do not support shitty game companies who are only in the game industry to make money. They are ruining video games.
