An individual's history begins at his or her birth. A person is not innately imbued with cultural history. Cultural assimilation (especially for atheist jews) would be the greatest protection against genocide - but I'm sure you realize that irony.

that's the logic my great uncle used. he wanted my generation to be raised as christians to protect us. edit: Technically speaking you did answer one of my questions by saying you agree a person has the moral right to accept or deny an identity, it just seems that for some reason, you don't see the contradiction in acknowledging that freedom and marking the identity you desire of them on their bodies.
