Didn't know that. I'm pretty sure that my dad's entire family is trimmed since my dad is, and they are roman catholics. Either way, that wasn't really the point of my post but at least I learned something today.

Wikipedia says clitoral hood cutting is part of the general umbrella of female genital mutilation, and cutting the hood, generally also includes cutting the clitoris, although cutting the hood is classified as type Ia and cutting the clitoris is type Ib.

Just out of curiosity what are peoples views of parents who get their daughters ears pierced at a very young age before they are old enough to want earrings themselves? I know it isn't as invasive as a circumcision but it is a modification of the body done to children by parents for purely aesthetic reasons.

cutting the clit or the hood is meant to make sex painful for women to subjugate them. circumcision is done for aesthetic reasons and has side effects so small that science can't quantify them beyond the range of statistical error. it's tooooooooooooootally the same thing.

Not the same thing. Superficial comparison. Also, ear piercings can close. The only thing to say about this is that the parents are deciding on something without the child being part of the decision. If it's not as severe a change though - and a change that can be 'undone' - then I don't see how it falls in the same category as circumcision.

I haven't clicked on this until now. I thought I was going to get an eyefull of dick. As for the topic at hand, shit should be illegal. I do not view children as property, but as people. Being people, they deserve the respect afforded to a person. I therefore find forcible mutilation of a child's genitals abhorrent.

I am cut, but I'm not mad at my parents for it. They were probably just doing what the doctor said, or wanted me to look like dad. It does, however, lower my opinion of their intelligence.

I have no issues with it, but I don't think I'd do it to my kid when they are a baby. I think I'd be so fucking overly paranoid that the earring would get caught on something and like pull its whole ear off (BABIES ARE FRAGILE).

My parents did it to me as a baby, but I guess mine must have closed up or something because I have a memory of being like 5 and having them redone. I don't think it matters either way. I rarely wear earrings now unless for a special night/interview, but really I can't imagine anyone raging thinking "HOW COULD MY PARENTS DO THAT TO ME?"

I don't know when I'd get my daughters (if I had any) done. I remember girls being so jealous of me for being able to wear earrings instead of clip-ons, which was definitely a small bonus for me as I was picked on a lot as a kid. At the same time, girls seem to so easily become sluts and whores, so probably waiting before they go down the path of prettying themselves up for guys would probably be a good thing lmao.

Since attempting to stretch my skin, I actually find it more comfortable peeing with it pulled back. Of course, this isn't super-erect but who pees with an erection all the time anyway?

Shit, if anything it's harder to aim with the skin on. Sprays like a fucking spigot.
