xbox 360 and a pc connection

i got a new router, netgear n600 to be specific. works great. comes with a usb plugin for a media server. Worked awesome for a few days.

flashforward to yesterday, electricians came in my new place to fix a power issue i had in one wall, and they kept flipping the breakers in my townhouse, causing the network/hdd to constantly reboot. it's connected to a power surge so that shouldnt matter though right?. suddenly i was unable to view every folder using my 360(but still could do it with my pc), with missing stuff in folders. right after that i restart the xbox thinking oh its just not connecting or some shit. i do that, now it recognizes no media whatsoever. i try many things, i try forgetting the server on the 360, i try resetting the router to factory settings, i even reformatted the portable.

Here's the wierd part. i put one file on it to test to see if it worked after the format, and it did. THEN i was like OK YAY IT WORKS AGAIN. so i spent the last 5 hours putting the 500gb of media back on it. Now it recognizes nothing again. What do?

doubleposting cause i can. Suddenly i'm able to browse another folder on the xbox pc connection. i'll just keep browsing videos until hopefully i can get it all >.>

edit: this is so wierd. i can view some files after i've moved them once and let it "load" for a while. but if i move them back to where they came from, GAME OVER MAN

Turning any electronic on/off multiple times within a few seconds can damage it depending on what it is.

For a router I could see it damaging it. Surge protectors literally do nothing in this case, which is why most people keep UPC connected to their network infrastructure. I've had two switches die in 10 years due to accelerated power/on/offs due to lightning storms (they were also cheapo shit bargain bin quality). Ever since then I just UPCs to protect them.

You could try doing a 30/30/30 reset, cold power on, and not sure if you've did dd-wrt already to flash the rom. Either way goodluck.
