So much struggle over something that has existed for thousands of years if not millions. I think it's good to put into perspective that homosexuality has existed for thousands of years before christianity, and it will likely exist for thousands of years after christianity is long dead and buried.

It baffles me that this is even still a thing. Gay people get equal rights and treatment, and everyone else's life... completely unaffected. Who opposes stuff like this?

I liked that video, partly because it's not something I experience in Sweden. I always found it absurd how some people in this day and age can still be of the opinion that some people are second class citizens based on race, gender or sexuality. And the arguments they use are just pathetic, really. It's strange how intelligent people can justify their hatred towards a group of people with logical fallacies. To me, it's fascinating. Look at Michelle Bachmann who use the argument "Gays and straights to have the same rights. They both have the right to marry someone of the opposite sex" when talking about gay rights. What's more, she even gets APPLAUDS for that utterly stupid statement.

I kinda regret not having Bachmann still in the race. We could have potentially had the first gay First Gentleman. Wait. No. I take that back. I'm happy she's gone.

Unfortunately, as long as there are religious zealots in a position of power or able to make enough of a squeak, there will always be opposition to this from people who like to cherry pick laws and rules from religious documents that suit their needs while writing off the rest as "times change"

The reason why some people hate gays is the same reason some people hate Christians. Which is the same reason why every other "group X" has hated "group Y." There is never any logical reason, it is always emotional.

Are you coming out in support of gay rights? This is a surprise.

I think that for a gay person, given that many christian groups are politically organized around being anti-gay, hating christians is very logical.

Religion really is just the way people tend to express their view on the subject, deep down it's more of an 'Eew' response. People are uncomfortable with something they don't understand or do not want to understand. So rather then ignore it,they look for reasons to justify their viewpoint and remove what makes them uncomfortable.

After all people have made Wars and commited horrible acts to accomplishes similar issues of discomfort or blame. Hatred is hot and more desirable to most people then reason, that's how it kind of goes.

Ironically most teachings of Christianity that I am familiar with does not indicate that god has hatred that people claim they do. In fact most passages I'm familiar with most mentioning of Homosexuality takes place in the section of the old testment that was involve with Jew Law not from any specific act of god supposely. Been since Middle School since I had any involvement with the book so I may be wrong on that.

I think you're right that christianity, rather than being the idea that produces homophobia, is simply the narrative used to express it.

However, i disagree (not that this was your point) with the idea of somehow equating the antagonism LGTTB people might have towards the christian right, with the politically organized antagonism that the christian right has against LGTTB people. I think LGTTB people are perfectly justified in reacting negatively towards the hateful actions of the organized christian right.

Where's the other T coming from? Why does B get bumped to the end nowadays?

I always get confused with the one used in spanish. I don't think it matters which letter is at the end. One T is for transexual and the other T is for transgendered.

What matters is that nobody is going to label a christian as a second class citizen (at least I've never been labeled as such - in fact you could be considered as such if you weren't), unlike a gay person.
Nobody cares if this is going to change in hundreds of years either because they won't around to witness that.
To this day christians win and gays lose. That's the harsh reality for ya.

Transsexuals are that undergo surgeries to become the gender they view themselves as. MTF FTM. Transgender are those that don't ad hear to certain gender roles specified by a society and view themselves more as another gender than the one they currently are.

Here are a view Wiki articles if you want to read more.

Milkster already explained, but i'll just simplify and say that while transexual may fall under transgendered, there are people who change gender without changing their sex. The other reason is that transexuals bitch a lot, so you gotta give them their own T so they don't call you a transphobe.
