Then defend it and explain yourself? You should have a reason, otherwise you're just being a douche because of something your parents taught you. Just wish for once someone opposing gay marriage would have a valid reason or explanation of why or how it would affect their life negatively. Same response as usual I guess.

Because to me, when you say it out loud you have to realize it sounds as dumb as wishing your hetero friends couldn't get married, for no real reason. "Traditional marriages" don't have any impact on your life so I'm not sure why two ladies or guys getting married would.

Love how just calmly voicing your opinion you get called a douche. This is like verbally attacking someone who does say they believe in god and say to prove it "that such a being exists".

Your right in that when you verbally try to defend yourself it does sound stupid be it with religion or in this case my view point, but it still doesn't get rid of that feeling/idea inside. Your also right in that it doesn't effect my life personally or how I would live my life, but also you can say the same thing about bestiality. People who practice that don't have any impact on my life what so ever and it’s probably been around as long the same as homosexuality, think of the story of the Minotaur. Brought up bestiality as I don't think any religious beliefs are based around that idea of sexuality like with Mormons. Just in all it offends the notion, the fundamental idea of marriage to me.

We aren't going to see eye to eye on this and no argument is going to sway either of our opinions, all that can be done is what’s in your rights, so if given the chance I will be voting against this. Or mud can be slung, to each their own.

Not really trying to compare homosexuality with bestiality, just a rebuttal to the comment that it has no effect on my life personally. So please don't take it like I am. Also to reiterate I am not against all the rights that come with marriage just the title of it.

'Gut instinct' and 'that's how it's always been' are consistently the two worst seeds of any legislation that affects millions. You can believe what you want, but when what you believe also has to apply to complete strangers in your state/nation, you have to do better than that.

Lots of people had your same gut feeling and "the way its always been" logic when debating the issue of Slavery and debating the issue of civil rights. I'm sure lots of people felt the same as you when interracial marriage was illegal and they were locking up any white woman that had a non-white kid.

No matter how "strongly" you "just feel about it", you have to compare how what you feel towards this stacks up to what others like you have felt like when compared to other issues that the Christian majority chalked up to as "biblical rights", which were simply ways to repress the rights of others.

This is such an old, tired discussion. Thank goodness some legislators are actually leaving it up to the majority instead of simply nodding and trusting whoever says "that's the way its always been!"

If they gay community could actually read a whole post they wouldn't be so laugh worthy it seems. Well I'm sorry just they gay community on BG. I wasn't comparing Homosexuality to bestiality, just crap that has no effect on my life from the previous posters comment. Either way from the comments I'm getting it just cements my opinion on this matter, I voiced my opinion and I'm out of this festering pile. It really is no wonder why only what is it 8/50 states have adopted this. Hopefully only 7 again soon.

I'm sorry if my tone did change with this post but it was more or less in retaliation to the comments I did get.
