There was that as well. I watched my wife play it. Game legitimately made me feel uncomfortable.

Kuya nailed it with his post about horror. It was scary as shit hearing that zombie moaning around the corner, and I KNEW he was somewhere, just fucking waiting to eat my brains. Back to RE6: I finished Leon's campaign and enjoyed chapters 1-3. 4 & 5 and were ok, but there was some twisted shit in there that makes no sense if you've ever played a RE game.

I just beat Jake's scenario, playing as Sherry. Now I kinda wish I played as Jake, because...

    Spoiler: show
At the end when Jake brawls with Ustanak. Man I missed out on that because I was playing Sherry and just supporting him by launching cargo on rails ~_~

Ok having played through Jake's campaign and working on Chris's now I can honestly say this game sucks dick. It is without a doubt the worst Resident Evil game I've played since that horrible Survivor game. The only thing that makes the game difficult is the intentional shortage of ammunition and healing items. If you have to use half a clip to drop one regular enemy, there's a problem. The shortage of healing items is just absolutely ridiculous. I went through one chapter and only received one green herb. One.

The QTE's are absolutely retarded. They are so sporadically placed that you will ALWAYS die the first time one pops up. Because you're completely unprepared for it and you have about a second to react to it. The weapons acquisition system is crap. Can't even upgrade the weapons like in 4 or 5? Come on. I'll finish up Leon's campaign and then this PoS is going bye bye. Can't believe I wasted money on this shit.

Should have learned your lesson after re5. This series is no longer worth 60 beans.

I had faith that it would still be decent along with a bit of brand loyalty. Capcom is now in the same category as Bioware to me. Do not touch.

It's cuz you didn't play with me like you said you would, nigga.

Selling the game once I get all my medals in preparation for AC3 and ZoEHD. Can't really be bothered to platinum this game. Or atleast, not until the game's like $10. I don't hate the game but it's too big for it's own good. Agent Hunt is hilarious, though.

Agent Hunt is definitely funny. I see what you were saying though, nobody ever joins as a teammate but multiple people jump in to kill you. With how short the ammo is in single player I shudder to think how bad it would be with two people vying for it.

Capcom did really well with Dragon's Dogma, but it's probably only a matter of time before that series gets sank.

These should be counted as pros, avoiding enemies and conserving resources are staples of any survival horror game (albeit RE is only tangentially survival horror at this point).

Wow. No. The type of "avoiding" you would be talking about is literally sprinting from one end of the area to the other. This is not a survival horror game in any way shape or form. It's an action/adventure game that attempts to instill a sense of fear from the deliberate shortage of ammo and healing items. Qbert is 100% correct. Trying to spin very blatant design flaws into a challenge of some sort is just asinine.

I would say the problem is more that enemies are bullet sponges, I only ran out of ammo in Chris's campaign. In Leon and Jake's campaigns my problem was that your inventory is only big enough to hold one of each type of ammo/grenades and maybe a herb, so I was leaving stuff on the floor constantly and having to drop my remote bombs if I found an herb to combine.

I just learned to counter most enemies whenever possible. Counter attacks make some enemies stupidly easy. I used to dread the Leaping flesh guys in mercenaries but now whenever their round comes up its like "woot free 10s on the clock".

The problem with most enemies in this game (and most RE games post 4) is that they seem to punish you excessively for just killing enemies. Shoot the head, HEAD MUTATION. Shoot the leg, LEG MUTATION. Shoot randomly, BODY OR COCOON MUTATION. I seriously feel like the only sure way to kill something without it rising up to fuck my ass later is to melee it to death. However dodging isn't as good as I would imagine. Dodging for the most part is messy and doesn't feel intuitive at all, so that makes melee a lot less fun. Cover system is awkward as fuck at best and an absolute pain in the ass at worst. So I have to wonder if I'm even playing right, or if there is a right way to play. Because RE 4 and 5 made it clear how I should play the game, RE 6 seems to want me to guess.

I don't know why RE even has manual aiming if all it does is punish you. If shooting something in the head isn't more skillful and more rewarding than anything else why even bother aiming properly?

Gotta get your skills leveled up. Crit up + weapon damage up = I usually kill stuff with 2 bullets max or 1 bullet and a finisher (head shots of course). Only thing that doesn't die so quick are transformed enemies or enemies that are programmed to transform no matter how you kill it.

Only problem with that idea is that by the time you get those skills leveled up, you've probably played most if not all of the campaigns which I think was intentional. In all the Resident Evils there were times where you needed to kill stuff and times where you were better off running to save bullets. Problem with this game is that there are too many places where you COULD run but the enemies will just follow you which will just get you killed if they're armed enemies. Even worse, you're not really rewarded as well as you could be for being put in that situation to get you through the next area. Chris's camapgin is the worst at this followed by Jake's and it's only because you gotta deal with a ton of armed J'avo. You don't really wanna turn your back on an enemy with a gun in any game.

I wasn't so much disagreeing (I haven't even played 6) as pointing out how that resource management is supposed to be a gameplay mechanic in and of itself. Also pointing out that yea, survival horror went out the window completely with 5 and 6 is following suit. In 4 at least you were alone and had the option of avoiding enemies.

Seeing as 6's gameplay is just an extension of 5's (insufferable forced buddy system et al) then you're pretty much forced to kill everything before advancing. They're just linear action games with shitty controls in order to retain some semblance of vulnerability.

The FOV on RE5 is worlds better than 6. I wonder why they chose to make RE6 so claustrophobic.
