Now that my streaming issues have been resolved and the BG Fites Channel has been restored to it's full glory, it's about time to get the 2012 BG Fighting Game Tournament Season(more to come on this later) under way. To kick it off we'll be bringing together the Order of the Blue Marvl!

For those of you who did not participate in last year's BG SSF4AE tourney, we all had a great time, except for Weltall, who according to a press release from his spokesperson "can't play in this lag". This time around I want things to be bigger, better, and even saltier!

This thread will be for people who are interested to sign up, as well as to discuss the time/date, rules, and format. This will only be the second tourney I've ever run, so I'm always open for suggestions. Last time it took us about 3 weeks to get everything together, I'd expect about the same for this.

Here's a general rundown of the rules/format that I'm proposing:

• All Skill Levels Welcome! - Don't sit out just because you're new and/or awful! This is for fun, it's not like there's an entry fee. Every person but one has to lose, you may as well be one of them!

• Double Elimination - Due to a relatively small number of entrants we've changed to double elimination.

• Best of Three Rounds - The exception being the final matches for 1st/2nd/3rd place, which would be Best of 5.

• Random Seeding - Pretty straightforward, I use the Tournament Maker app which will randomly seed the brackets. Byes are given to the highest seeds if we have a number of players not divisible by 8. If two people who are largely considered to be at the top of our group here I would reserve the right to alter seeds to put them at opposite ends of the bracket.

• Player-Scheduled Matches Up To Top 8 - The top 8 I would really like to be able to get together in one place at one time so that we can do a live stream of those matches. Prior to that, players will need to schedule their own matches at whatever time is convenient for both. If I'm around at the time I'm always willing to stream live matches. Players who live nearby each other would be welcome to play their matches offline. Players who are unresponsive to several attempts to schedule a match from their opponent will be DQ'd.

• No Character/Team Locking - Marvel has too many fucking characters for this, players are free to use whoever they want whenever they want, counterpicking is fully allowed.

All of this is up for discussion/subject to change. I am capable of doing double elimination, however note that this could make the tournament take over a week if we have a big turnout. If we have 16 or less players it would probably be reasonable to do double, though I predict we'll have more than that.

I request a few things for those who are interested:

• Connection Quality - If you are fully aware that you have garbage internet and are not capable of getting anything over redbars with BG members, I politely request you sit this one out. If you are unsure of your connection quality with others here, join some BG lobbies in the next couple of weeks.

• Don't Be A Flake - We all have real lives and shit to do. If you know you are highly unlikely to keep tabs on where the tournament is at and show for your matches, don't sign up and leave people hanging.

• XBL Mics Encouraged - Marvel isn't Marvel without the shittalking, if you can get a mic, please do. My own mic will be disconnected so any matches I spectate will have the XBL chatter show up on stream!

• Don't Be A Bitch About Bracketing - I'm volunteering my own time to put this together, don't be a cunt about who you get matched up against.
