I really hope in this case, SE listens to the JP playerbase. They seem to be the biggest group that want combat fixed before anything else.

Letter from the Producer, XXIII (01/23/2012)

Hello again, FFXIVers everywhere. Yoshida, here, back for my 23rd letter, and first of 2012.

Despite this start to the year, it will be strictly business as we carry on FFXIV’s development and operation. And as we work towards the 2.0 relaunch, for which we know you have big expectations, the dev team and Square Enix will be going all out in the effort to create something legendary!

I hope that the support and encouragement we have been receiving from all of you continues in 2012, and that you all continue to enjoy playing the game as well. See you next letter (I’ll be updating the 1.21 list of changes to the game soon) or on the forums! See you soon!

I enjoy the "entitled children" posts.

You have my sincerest apologies that I feel entitled to, at the very least, a mediocre experience when I play a game. Furthermore, I apologize even further that you for some reason don't have high expectations of anything that you play. You are the cancer slowing the process of this game ever succeeding. If you want to be happy with less while a game self-destructs go play a different MMO. I would like to see this game become something, hopefully 2.0 brings this vision.

There's an outstanding amount of "u mad" going on around here over the occasional (and inevitable) uninformative producer letter.

Wanting some new info about a video game... and getting all angry nerd on the interwebs when you don't get it, pretending you know how to run a better business are two entirely different things.

Eh, for me it's just that in the past we've gotten some incredibly informative producer letters. Now we're paying and this is the first one of the year, and there's content in the pipe that we want info on, and we get... this. It is kinda disheartening man. I look forward to these letters to tell us what's going down at SE and where the game is going. All I took from this letter is they went out drinking, took some funny pictures, and "keep playing cuz stuff is coming!"

So yeah, call it 'entitled' if you want to, it ain't nearly that snobbish. You promise me some shit, I threw money at you, now I'd like at least an inkling of some information regarding the promise for which I've paid to be fulfilled.

This is pretty much the reason I was disappointed with the letter. I was expecting something good/interesting now that the game is P2P and SE can't manage to screw around anymore.

I really want to see the game make a comeback, but SE is still pretty tight lipped on things.

Yeah but we are terrible players because we should be faking interest in what he did over the weekend. Just like when I buy a hamburger I need to know what the family that raised the cow does for fun.
