That's exactly it, however the top two deadbolts (the entire door has three) can only be locked from the inside. So when I got home, I was ramming the door with my shoulder because I thought it was stuck when in actuality he thought you could unlock all three from the outside.

At that point, it was obvious the guy took my stuff, but here's where the real stupidity is, two days ago, he friend requested me on Facebook! Now, keep in mind, I had met this guy two maybe three times; I figured why not he's a nice guy, maybe we can hang out sometime. Never did I think the dude was going to rob me.

The bolded part is very concerning. There are people out there who use Facebook in order to get a profile of what kind of person you are and your schedule, especially if you are very open about what you do, what you purchase, and where you are when you post on your wall. If they know you work a ways away and you post something about being at work, they know how much time they have to rob you etc.

There are people out there who use Facebook in order to get a profile of what kind of person you are and your schedule, especially if you are very open about what you do, what you purchase, and where you are when you post on your wall. If they know you work a ways away and you post something about being at work, they know how much time they have to rob you etc.

I understand that fully now, but the way it went down, he took stuff out of my apartment before I accepted the friend request. I travel a lot with work and he must have noticed since the only times we ran into each other were when I was dragging my luggage up the stairs, he didn't need to befriend me on facebook to know I am never home. I removed him as a friend and blocked, and lo and behold, his girlfriend friend requested me today... I really don't know what to make of this, part of me thinks the guy really did stop someone else from robbing and just said fuck it, I'll hook up the w&d since I can't get into his place. The other part is maybe he's just trying to get me to not press charges... either way, I was robbed either by my neighbor or someone I don't know, I'm not sticking around to find out.

Yeah, I really don't think someone tried to protect you by moving your appliances and other belongings into their own home, especially considering he hardly knows you. I've been wrong before though, I guess.

If he hasn't come to talk to you about it, either as a friend or neighbor, id ere on the side of caution and go with your gut feeling; dude is shady and you need to gtfo.
