I def haven't had a Martin's roll. I don't spend $6 for hamburg buns. I'm mad when I have to spend $2. I don't think I've ever even seen Martin's for sale in a store. Tried pretzel and didn't like it. I've never had a kaiser roll or egg twist. Can't say if I'd like it or not obviously. I'm simple with bread/buns, probably because I just go to the bread isle and get what's on sale.
English muffins are the shit too.
I stock up when they go on sale as BOGO. Chuck em in the freezer.
Healthy English muffin? I mean you can check the package, but they're all pretty much the same as far as I know. If you just want to cut calories, use the smaller English muffins rather than the larger ones.
Thomas' English Muffins are on sale pretty frequently.
Well I mean, it's not a muffin in that sense.
I've never had eel before. What kind of texture does it have? Seems like it'd be kinda tough or rubbery, but I assume just like anything else it's tender when braised.
It's tender and delicious when braised. I prefer it grilled yakitori style. It's only tough if overcooked badly.
This morning I watched the Babbish how to make takoyaki. Anyone done it? If so, how was it? Any idea how much octopus is at the store?
I wouldn't bother trying to make it. It's very hard to get right and octopus is not easy to work with or cheap.
Friend of mine has made octopus for us before. She marinated it for a while before grilling it to get it tender. Maybe 24hrs +. I'm not sure exactly, used some recipe her mom gave her, but it was just grilled octopus.
I'd try with a different filler. Looks kinda fun to try.
If you are really hard up on those calories carbs can always go bunless. While it certainly adds something (usually) a nice juicy cheese burger still great. Actually not a huge fan of In N Out's buns to begin with so usually do that anyways... that saves enough calories for another patty yo!
Should try some garlic salt... basically same thing combine and pretty good.
Use iceberg lettuce leaves as buns too. Adds a more satisfying crunch than you would think. Don't put it on until RIGHT before you eat though because it'll get soggy.
Making dinner for a vegan friend tomorrow. Made the most baller curry I've ever done in my life as prep.
Lots of shallots (like 1.5 pounds) + tomato as a base, a mix of two homemade curry powders with fresh toasted and ground spices (Garam + chaana masala) was added til everything was tender and the tomatoes lost all their water. Then added grated ginger, garlic, and fresh turmeric, added coconut milk and simmered for a while. To finish I added raisins for sweetness, some saffron, lime, and some cashew yogurt (this stuff is terrible for yogurt but I really just wanted the yogurt twang which this definitely had), then added more salt until it got to the level I like.
It would have been better had I been able to use ghee, but even at this point it's fantastic. I would definitely recommend.
Dinner last night. Fennel and leek risotto with a parsley pesto. Just threw some prosciutto on there because we had it and I like prosciutto.
Spoiler: show
Dude risotto is fucking baller. Nice moves, that prosciutto on top is a money move.
re: Curry above. That sounds amazing except raisins. Are raisins usually in the mix? I've never been a fan.
