The prosciutto was a good move, but try searing it next time. That crisp and salt is so good.

I like the texture of cold prosciutto more than cooked or seared. It's probably a personal thing.
I'm with toki. I dislike cooking certain cured meats like prosciutto because the fat is the most important part and having it melt from cool is a sensory experience.
Some seared prosciutto on a panini with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes mmmmm

I like golden raisins mixed into meatballs. Not many, just enough for a sweet bite or two per meatball.

No thanks.
A little lemongrass or ginger too.

We're not talking Italian meatballs then?
I could see this being good with an Asian influenced sauce. Would not want it with a traditional tomato sauce, personally.
There are raisins in the Sputino recipe. It's mostly a Sicilian thing, not mainland Italian. Also they use dried currants for the most part, raisins are an easy and cheap sub.
I can't do it. I'm okay with raisins, but the thought of them in my Italian meatballs is not appealing to me.
Like I said, if you gave me meatballs with raisins, ginger, and lemongrass in something with maybe a soy sauce and tomato base I would probably be up for it. I would just need to move it away from what I see as traditional Italian meatballs.
What you see isn't what they are!

Ground raisins in an asian style meatball sounds like it could work, but whole ones in an Italian meatball? GTFO. I'll try to remember to post a photo tonight of the finished curry. Yesterday was just the sauce. I plan to add toasted curried chick peas and green beans with sous vide asparagus/potatoes (I think this seems overboard but it really does give them a perfect texture).
I didnt realize we were sticking to Italian meatballs only. I get enough of that from my in laws, I dont want to hear it from BG too!

I have a theory that meatballs and tortillas are basically the worlds most universal foods. I think most cultures have had some form of these two foods at some point in their culinary history.
I agree with the tortilla. Don't agree with the meatball. No Chinese meatballs out there except for recent interpretations of char siu.
i mean, that's a stretch.
