Looking to move - need ISP advice

So I'm looking to move soon, and I've been spoiled with optimum online and fios for quite a while. Some of the locations I'm looking at moving to only have verizon high speed dsl, or time warner. While DSL is out of the question, what can I expect from time warner? Is it completely atrocious or has it gotten better? Don't care much for cable tv or phones, strictly on their broadband services, which I hear can now go to 30/50 Mbps. Thanks for any input.

It really depends on the location. Here in Socal they're fine but I've heard worst over in the east coast. Name the place you're moving to and others who live there or near can input on experiences.

time warner isnt bad, if anything Id see if you have the option for a business account if you can afford it. they offer higher speed packages and dont have bandwith limits

What's the problem with DSL? It's usually a bit slower than cable, but the speed is consistent throughout the day, since it's a direct line, not a shared one through your neighborhood? I've heard of DSL reaching 100+ Mbps speeds, depending on region.

Being in Alaska, I'm not sure what coverage in the rest of the US is like, I just know we have slower than any other state, because of how rural we are. Current max DSL here in Anchorage is 3 Mbps, but they told me last week that they plan to raise that to 10 later this year, and that company has no usage limit. (I had to downgrade to 320 Kbps to cut my expenses temporarily). Cable here has a usage limit, and $5 per GB for going over it, and maxes out at 22 Mbps. DSL just requires a basic phone line, while the cable company tries to bundle phone, TV, and cell phone with their faster services, or the cost per month is much higher. Given how much I transfer a month, any of the usage limits would have my cable bill at $300+ a month, while my $50-70/month DSL lets me keep going. It'll be $90/month if I go with the max speed, but that's better than $150 a month for limited cable that I'd go over within a week.

    That's the problem.

For comparison, somewhere that's not the middle of nowhere, i get 50 mbps for $60/mo, with no bandwidth limits. Also, for $105/mo, i could get 100 mbps if i wanted.

Pretty much what he described. I have 25/5 Mbps right now. Some areas in the town have fios, which is 25/25, 35/35, or 50/20. The other half has .5-1/??? or 7/??? for more money. Time warner has some bundles but seems to be twice as expensive as fios and from what i've heard, not as good in some way (whether it be service, actual bandwidth being transmitted or whatever)
