yeah, well, when you see someone working for like $3/hr and giving you food it's courtesy to let them know they're worth more!

I guess I just don't get why you can't pay them more to start with! I mean I'm happy to do it, but it's just a really weird thing for me. Also I have no idea who I need to tip outside restaurants and bars. Ask Demo, I was like "do I tip here?" all the freaking time, I was so worried about offending someone by not tipping!

Oh yeah final one: gun culture. I get it from a historical perspective, but knowing that anyone I might be walking past on the street could be packing is really really really scary to me.

It's not compulsory, though I do remember one kid in my school was sent to the principal once for not participating. The school dropped it rather quickly, though, since they can't force you to do it if you don't want to.

One of my best friends is Welsh. I have to ask her to repeat herself all the time when she talks though. Its really hard understanding that accent sometimes.
