I see. Isn't there a rule against trolling in the poopdeck?

Nah, he gives me an opportunity to talk about an issue people do not like talking about. All I did originally was post a item about the destruction of Palestinian libraries during the 48' War.
How could that be controversial? It either happened or it didn't.
Yet, he came into the thread and started a different discussion about whether an entire group of people who obviously self-identify as a collective, exist or not. Well, he just flat-out said they do not exist. They are imaginary people!
Well, no, actually he said they are secretly Jordanians.
So this implies he knows what a Jordanian is. Well, for everyone else here - ask yourself when 'Jordanian' identity came into existence and how solanis (and other people like him) differentiate.
That's a shame.
By changing the subject to something he can go back and forth on without once acknowledging the topic of the OP he's pulled a classic troll maneuver. "What do you mean private property was illegally seized by an invading force? You can only steal from real people not made up people let's talk about how they're made up!"
I will only respond up to a point (after this new sub-forum was made). He can mutter to himself like a crazy person that imaginary people are trying to push him into the sea. I think he needs a shrink!
you guys are like the little boy who called troll. if you call everything a troll (and by god you do) then when a real troll shows up, no one will take you seriously. I almost never troll but I get banned constantly for being a dick and hurting people's feelings, but I'm not even being mean tonight![]()
“The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism.”
said by PLO Executive Committee member Zuheir Mohsen in '77
And yet, Jordanians, Syrians, and Lebanese all exist.
and?
Zuheir Moshen was a pan-Arab nationalist. When he speaks of these various Arab States and Palestinian nationalistic identity not 'really' existing, he is advocating a single Arab nation. That was not uncommon in the 1970s, solanis.
The guy was assassinated 2 years later. It's been 33 years. Pan-Arabism is over. It was over when Nasser died. Your quote is not only out of context but it's irrelevant.
he's very clearly explaining the falseness of a "palestinian" identity, not a pan-arab nation. please.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Moshen was a Baathist.
These things either happened or they didn't.
He was either a member of the Syrian Baathist faction of the PLO or he wasn't. You don't know anything about him beyond that quote.
During that era, there were several members of the PLO who were pan-Arabists. This doesn't mean Palestinian identity is a 'false' identity. These people believed the greater goal was for a unified Arab nation. And there were others in the organization for whom, the Palestinian struggle and Palestinian nationalism was priority.
did we read the same quote elvis? because I can only assume we didn't from your excuses
Yes, we did. Except the difference is, as I already stated:
You know nothing about this guy beyond that quote. So you're taking it out of context. You seem to think he is a Zionist telling the world a dark secret but what he's really saying is, Palestinian identity doesn't exist/Lebanese doesn't exist/Egyptian/blah blah identity doesn't exist BECAUSE, we are all one Arab nation. One people.
This is no different from Zionists who claim Israel is the Jewish State, in spite of the fact that there is a 20% non-Jewish minority (the Palestinian Arabs, Israel did not ethnically cleanse in 48' and the later wars).
Jews live all over the world but Israel claims that in spite of a Jew not having Israeli citizenship, Israel is still that Jews 'eternal homeland'.
Put it in context with that era (the 1970s and pan-Arabism/Nasser-ism).
None of this - and certainly no amount of out-of-context quotes from pan-Arabists - changes the land ownership statistics of the Mandate. It does not change the fact that Israel razed 700+ Palestinian villages. It doesn't change the fact that Israel ethnically cleansed 750K Palestinians in 48'. No matter what you call these people, they lived on that land and were dispossessed. They are STILL, in the present being dispossessed so this act of ethnic cleansing as Israel's 'original sin' is not really original. It keeps happening.
So the entire point of saying Palestinians do not exist is to dehumanize them and strip them of their rights to the land. They could be Scientologists for all I care, it does not change history.
