Dictionaries evolve slower than languages, and they intentionally give very basic definitions so they can easily convey the basic meaning of a word. There is a lot of information about a word that you will not find in a dictionary. For example, shop and store. A dictionary will say these are the same thing, but no one uses them interchangeably. That is because, despite having the same basic definition, they really are used quite differently. There is more to a word than just the dictionary definition.
